Emirates Skywards is offering tickets for the final of the ICC World Test Championship cricket at The Oval.

Running from 7th to 9th June (well, 11th June but Emirates is only offering the first three days) you can watch India take on Australia in the final of the 2021-2023 World Test Championship cycle to decide who is the best test match team in the world.

ICC World Test Championship Emirates

Standard tickets cost between 12,000 and 15,000 Emirates Skywards miles depending on the day.

Hospitality packages are also available for 35,000 to 40,000 Emirates Skywards miles. However, there is zero information – zilch – on what these actually include or where you will be sat so it is difficult to recommend them.

Remember that Emirates Skywards is a 1:1 transfer partner with American Express Membership Rewards (earned primarily from Preferred Rewards Gold and The Platinum Card). Points should transfer instantly to Emirates although if it is your first transfer there may be a short (hours, not days) delay.

You can find out more about the ICC tickets on this page of the Emirates website.

We published a complete guide to earning Emirates Skywards miles from UK credit cards which you can find here.

How to earn Emirates Skywards miles from UK credit cards

How to earn Emirates Skywards miles from UK credit cards (March 2024)

Emirates Skywards does not have a UK credit card.  However, you can earn Emirates Skywards miles by converting Membership Rewards points earned from selected UK American Express cards.

Cards earning Membership Rewards points include:

Membership Rewards points convert at 1:1 into Emirates Skywards miles which is an attractive rate.  The cards above all earn 1 Membership Rewards point per £1 spent on your card, which converts to 1 Emirates Skywards mile. The Gold card earns double points (2 per £1) on all flights you charge to it.

  • James says:

Those cricket tickets were on cash sale for peanuts. £20-30 IIRC

    • KP says:

      Cheapest is £70

      • Michael C says:

Have you a link to cash sales? Or have they ended?
Tried half a dozen, all came to dead ends on Oval/Surrey pages: IT side looks grim!

        • Michael C says:

Thanks, Tony – just comes up as “no products available”, so presumably sold out? (the link to “Hospitality” comes up as “error”!).

        • The real Swiss Tony says:

OK try putting WTOB23 in the promotional code box. That should do it.

        • The real Swiss Tony says:

And to add, when it tells you the hospitality is sold out, if you then click on the box that says “continue shopping” it takes you to the hospitality. I can only imagine this is made by the team who have now graduated after developing the BA iOS app…

        • Michael C says:

Thanks so much for the effort. Didn’t find any availability so will resort to the traditional who-can-I-ring-in-London tactic!

        • tony says:

Oh, that’s utterly annoying. It was there this morning. I was given a priority slot for applications back in Feb as a consolation for not getting the Ashes ballot, Just checked and sure enough the link no longer works – sorry!

  • tony says:

I tried to stay at the Hard Rock Hotel once – found a good rate and was at a dinner round the corner. London in June and the newly refurbed room had no aircon. Needless to say I was checked out within 30 mins. A refund was prompt enough in coming through but it always seemed committed to underwhelm.

    • Ian says:

I found it all in all a very disappointing experience. I had stayed once at the Cumberland, which I found OK but overpriced for what it was. HRC had terrible customer service. Our room was not available till around two hours after check-in time. Not good.

  • Dev says:

I would not waste time watching cricket in the UK … it will probably be rained off!

    • The real Swiss Tony says:

I probably attend one match a year and can say the most rain disruption I’ve ever had was a 20 minute interruption to play at a limited overs match in Southampton. Was staying in one of the pitch facing rooms at the Hilton so it was far from being a hardship. More frustrating was having tickets for day 4 of a test to find that it was all wrapped up by tea on day 3…

      • Dev says:

That’s the other risk with Green pitches and teams not used to the cold “summer”.

  • No longer Entitled says:

7-9th June – so it is a three day test?

    • KP says:

      7-11th

    • Ken says:

      5 days.

    • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

I clicked through and Emirates are only offering this on 3 days even though the match is scheduled for 5.

      • Rob says:

Possible they auction the other days although also possible they don’t want the faff of refunds if its a quick finish.

      • Ken says:

No one sells tickets for Day 5 before the match starts.
There is never any hospitality on day 5

        • The real Swiss Tony says:

That’s not correct. The Oval is offering hospitality on Day 5 of the Ashes this year. I guess the mark up is sufficiently high that they’re happy to take the risk.

          • Rob says:

Depends who takes the risk … better read the small print before you buy!

  • Alex says:

Note that they currently use their Thistle City Barbican to house illegal migrants under government contract.. Likely they get a better deal there than selling those rooms on the market.

  • Fazzy Bear says:

FA Cup auctions aswell on Skywards

  • Zed says:

There were a number of auctions (French Open semis and final for example) on Skywards I couldn’t access – I emailed Skywards who indicated they were only available to Gold and Platinum members. Seemed a new thing as previously had access.

    • Rob says:

Yes, the UK concert tickets one is restricted (they have Blur at Wembley etc) which is annoying.

  • Clayton says:

The HR at Marble Arch was a smart move if you booked it for a night/ weekend for BST as it was literally across the road from the event. We snagged Rock Royalty rooms with the free booze and snacks lounge ( underwhelming as it is, it adds a good value proposition when you can self pour hard liquor for free in central London!) for £160 for 2 nights more than once booking far out.

Service was always good on the hotel side of things with friendly, knowledgeable and proactively helpful staff. The bars & restaurants a little hit n miss but no more than is the norm in the majority of high volume bars in the city.

We actually have a booking there for this year’s BST so wonder what’ll happen with that/ when we’ll find out. Can’t see the RR Lounge staying and being free pour if it’s being de branded so they’d be in breach of current booking conditions/ policies. Not massively bothered as it was only 191 for a superior room & lounge access for 2 nites when the likes of Pink are sold out and playing across the road( ish)

    • Rob says:

The report in The Caterer implies that free cancellation is available if you’re not happy about the swap.
