Hyatt has opened Hyatt Regency Zadar, its first hotel in Croatia.

The 113 rooms and suites are described as having panoramic views of the coastline. It appears to be aimed as much at the corporate as the tourist market, with over 700 sq m of event space and a 400 sq m pillarless ballroom with a poolside terrace.

Says Hyatt:

Hyatt Zadar opens

Located at the heart of Croatia’s Adriatic coast, and just a short walk from Zadar’s UNESCO-listed Old Town, the hotel offers an enriching and inspiring setting for curious travelers exploring local attractions. Rooted in a culture of community, the hotel will inspire creativity and cultivate a genuine sense of connection.

Blending rich cultural heritage with breathtaking natural beauty, the hotel offers guests sweeping sea views, a unique fusion of historic architecture and contemporary design, and a distinctly Mediterranean atmosphere. It invites an open-minded exploration of all that Croatian culture has to offer.

The hotel spa includes heated indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, steam room, hammam, hot tubs and treatment rooms. It is not on a beach but offers ‘transfers or a boat ride to a nearby coastal town, where guests can enjoy private cabanas and beachfront dining along the Adriatic’.

Having stumbled into TAP as my reentry into the Star Alliance, with flights on Swiss, Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand already booked as part of my move away from BA, this TAP Portugal and Etihad partnership offers some interesting new options for me with an airline I’d have never looked at before.

I’m not sure how I feel about the ITA replica aeroplane cabin concept: it would feel more comfortable if it looked like being inside rather than outside the plane.

I think the reference to aperitifs from 5-7 is also likely to be hot food (like aperitivo bar nibbles / canapés / snacks, ideal with a negroni of three). Looking forward to trying it.

Rob, ITA currently has some very attractive fare in the summer from BKK – YYZ with a long layover in FCO. I don’t mind that as long layover helps me with jetlag but bit struggling (as mentioned above) which alliance I can credit miles to? I would prefer credit it to Skyteam but now that it has left and I cannot find any info on wheretocredit as well.

Checked in yesterday to the Hyatt and it really is top notch. Beautifully refurbished old building and sympathetic modern extension, great staff. Zadar is beautiful and once the local airport is renovated will be a great alternate to SPU.
