Earn double Nectar points in June when you convert to or from Avios

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

Avios and Nectar have launched a new offer (well, a repeat of a 2023 and 2024 one) to promote the tie-up between the two programmes.

As a reminder, you can:

  • convert Nectar points to Avios at the rate of 400 : 250
  • convert Avios to Nectar points at the rate of 400 : 400
double Nectar points in June when you make a conversion to Avios

You can find out more, and convert in either direction, via this page of ba.com.

Remember that Nectar points are worth a flat 0.5p each when spent at Sainsburys, Argos etc. This means that you can ‘cash out’ Avios for 0.5p by transferring them into Nectar points – not that this is great value compared to redeeming for premium cabin flights.

Get double Nectar points on shopping when you make an Avios conversion

This new promotion is a little complex but will be worthwhile for some readers.

Firstly, you need to transfer a minimum of 400 Nectar points into Avios or transfer a minimum of 400 Avios into Nectar points.

Secondly, after the transfer, you need to shop at Sainsbury’s, Argos, Habitat or Tu during the rest of June.

You will receive double Nectar points at these four places for transactions made between the date of your Avios conversion and 30th June.

There aren’t many rules except:

  • only base Nectar points are doubled, not any promotional points
  • you cannot reverse the initial Avios conversion before 30th June – if you send any points in the other direction during the month it is likely to disqualify you from the bonus

The promotion is NOT restricted to ‘first time’ Nectar converters. Anyone can take part.

No-one is getting rich off this offer, but if you were likely to spend a few hundred pounds across Sainsbury’s, Argos, Habitat and/or Tu this month you might as well take part.

Further details can be found on the Nectar site here.

Note the date when the bonus will credit your nectar account

    5. 2x Nectar points applies to base points only and not to bonus Nectar offers. 2x Nectar points will be credited to the Eligible Participant’s Nectar account 28 days after the campaign expiry date (28/07/25).

    • Suz says:

Ohhh, so when you get points because a particular product is on offer with 40 extra points, or double on petrol, those extra 40 don’t contribute to the 400 needed for this promo? Hmmm so now I have to calculate how many points are valid… ok thanks for the heads up! I’m keen to take advantage of this offer so I didn’t spot these finer details

      • Richard says:

I don’t think you’ve understood this promotion? You need to convert avios to nectar or vice versa to be eligible. Then you receive double points on all spend. Excluding promotional points. So spend £500 and get an additional 500 points.

  • Stu p says:

@Rob Any word on when in “early 2025” the nectar Marriott deal will come out?!

  • Olly says:

    Presumably auto convert will count?

  • Steven says:

Gotta love a bonus deal, and hopefully it works.

As many have moaned before; the system is clunky, prone to errors, and a bit opaque.

They recently had a competition to win a million points if you bought a Starbucks product at Sainsburys, but only one product was eligible and that detail was buried in the terms and conditions.

Today I’m told I can get extra points by using my Nectar Amex, but the “Activate Now” button takes me to the application for the card. No indication that anything is “activated”.

    It’s all a bit janky.

    • Lumma says:

The update to the app recently is terrible (iPhone version at least), when adding the bonus offers individually it glitches constantly.

  • Mark says:

Anyone know what or who won the “flora” promotion.
