Hilton news in brief:

Hilton to open a new hotel in The City

Hilton has given a name to the new Curio Collection property taking shape in The City – The Derby London City.

Based in a converted office block on Great Tower Street (which is what Eastcheap becomes as it heads towards Tower Hill), the hotel – named after the bowler hat – will have 237 rooms.

Dining will be in the form of an all-day dining restaurant, coffee house and bar called Rycrofte’s, inspired by Sir John Rycrofte, Sergeant of the Larder to Henry VII and Henry VIII. It will overlook St Dunstan in the East Church Garden.

The opening date is given as ‘early 2026’.

Hilton for Business ‘new employee’ bonus extended

The most generous hotel promotion at the moment, at least for low value stays, is Hilton’s ‘5000 bonus points per stay for Hilton for Business members’.

This HfP article explains the deal in full. Hilton for Business is free to join if you have a small business (or your employer is a member) and the bonus is capped at 15,000 bonus points, which means three stays.

You are meant to book a ‘Hilton for Business’ rate to get the bonus. However, it appears that at least some people are getting it on ANY rate, as long as they switched on ‘Hilton for Business’ rates at the time of booking. I have a stay this weekend that would fall under this category so can report back.

Anyway ….

A second part of the offer was 2,000 bonus Hilton Honors points for adding a new member to your ‘Hilton for Business’ account.

If you registered herethe account head would receive 2,000 bonus points for every co-worker who joins – no stay required – up to 10,000 points.

This deal was meant to end on 28th June. It has now been extended to 1st August, so you have another month to invite people who work in your small business to join.

I am unable to register for the 5000 points a night promo. When I try to it just loops around asking to confirm or reject cookies! No matter how many times I try. Any one had similar issues and has managed to solve?

  • tony says:

Likewise I have had recurring problems with the website trying to get other staff members onto the system. To the extent that I just gave up after several days.

Can imagine the conversation at HQ:
“Why aren’t the people signing up?”
    “Dunno boss”
“Maybe we should leave the offer open for longer?”
    “Sounds good”
    “Pub?”
    “Pub!”

  • Dude says:

Same stupid cookies message that happened teben they released their previous bonus promotion.

    Why even bother….

  • Doug says:

Given that the hotel is named after the Bowler hat, is the hotel name pronounced ‘Durby’ or ‘Darby’?

  • Nick says:

I’ve stayed at ‘The Westminster London’ Curio several times (and previously when a Doubletree). The staff have always been some of the best I’ve come across in London hotels, always extremely welcoming, and helpful. I hope that the new ‘The Derby London City’ has a similar approach.

Have received all three portions of 5000pts for Personal rate stays. Only prerequisites seem to have been membership of HfB and registration for the offer.

    • Rob says:

Did you have HfB rates showing when you booked?

What I found last week was that I got a ‘Thank you for booking with Hilton for Business’ message on screen when H4B was activated but I chose a non-H4B rate.

I don’t know if it still triggers if you haven’t turned on H4B rates during booking.

      • Sina says:

I booked through Navan and got the 5k bonus, I think you just need to register and stay.
