In Barbados (pre-pandemic) the buffet was continental only and you could pay extra for full breakfast iirc ($15 rather than the $30 a non-status guest would pay).
I just had breakfast in the lounge each day (which they have since closed).
Saturday just gone at the Hilton Metropole Birmingham (UK) it was full choice, not just continental.
However, free continental is the wording, so you can’t complain really of that is what they offer you.
