I used the Barclays upgrade for 50k and £275 to Shanghai so shows you how far off Cairo pricing is one way. You cannot compare but with Wizzair flying for a pittance offpeak £80-90 return to Cairo, it really takes the biscuit.
Are those two really comparable? The Cairo example is for two people peak, while your Shanghai one is the Avios/cash for one person, off peak. I know it would have spoilt the narrative if you had quoted Shanghai as 100k/155k Avios off peak/peak Avios and £550 .
