Check with BA Holidays (add a hotel the day before in LHR for instance), you may find the prices are similar but 1) you get luggage 2) you may have access to JAL inventory at the same price.

Can’t seem to find a hotel at LHR only adding hotels in Tokyo. This on BA Holidays website ye?
