Apologies need to ask a seriously stupid question or two in next few days as am booking travel at short notice fot a stressful event.

Will be flying on QR and/or BA flight codes bookkng through either BA or QR. May get stuck with the single BA flight number Lon-Syd which is particularly mean on tier points and avios earning. May, or may not be able to get new flight numbers breaking the journey in DOH. Or may end up on largely CX itinerary coded as BA or more likeky CX, via Hkg.

A BA holiday check showed absolutely no benefit pricewise. Whether car, or 1 or 5 hotel nights, as I am travelling singly. Actually, adding any holiday element increased the holiday price about 20% overall for much lower added value of hotel or car if booked separately.

The nunber of tier points earned even on the huge £ amount this is going to cost me, even in PY or J, or in Y, means that a few days ago this trip alone could have been structured to get near enough to Silver. But even though travel is imminent so will be before 31st March, no chance under the new system, of getting Silver BA even adding the further flights I will do later this year.

So as BA is dead where do I credit longhaul Y or Business? Is the answer different according to class? I am thinking AS or AY. With work I might have got just about to Gold this year on BA but that’s now dead. Silver in OneWorld would be enough for me and probs I have to do this emergency trip on BA / QR. My further out future will be returning to Gold on Star Alliance.

So who do I credit Y or J longhaul travel to now under QR ot BA flight codes and metal?

I’m thinking of posing a similar question as Rob’s article mentioned they’d be looking at it closer to April and I need to know where to start crediting! Probably warrants its own thread though as it will get lost in the dailies.

From what I’ve seen so far (half an hours research last night), a QR trip to Oz in J should get you around about the right amount of QPoints for their Gold status (OW Sapphire, BA Silver) via Privilege Club depending on the fare type chosen. An economy European trip or two should be enough to make up any difference. Interested to see/hear what other programmes options are.
