Going to Washington for a few nights with the kids (11 and 7) and will do the usual museums etc. However, I understand you can also book a tour of the Whitehouse. If your a resident, you do this via the White House or your Member of Congress. If you are a citizen of a foreign country, it asks to please contact your embassy in Washington, D.C. Has anyone had a success with this and how does it work?

They used to do it but never reinstated the service when Trump’s ban on U.K. visitors was rescinded.

Be interesting to see if he reinstates the ban.

But but but… we have a special relationship. Don’t get me started!

The White House visitor centre is very interesting, however, with lots of historical information and a nice gift shop.

As per @Colin, the free tour of the Capitol is excellent, but you need to pre-book.

You need to prebook pretty much everything, Library of Congress, Spy museum, Washington Monument ride to the top, National Archives as well.
