Can’t figure out if I got a good deal. Used my VA credit card voucher to upgrade a cash work PE flight to UC both ways. It doesn’t look like they’ve used any miles (so must have been less than 150,000 covered by voucher) but had to pay about £500 in taxes for UC. Also he said there is quite a steep cancellation fee it was over £300, is that right?
Also the dynamic pricing thing is a nightmare. Their website is terrible, it’s slow, keeps crashing. I had to use Seatspy to find a cheap outbound UC rate and an average looking one for the return before I called but it worked out.
For me I think it’s worth holding on to that card for the voucher and paying the annual fee if I can do this from time to time but does require a lot of flexibility as the rates are absurd on most dates.
