The officials drawing up the document accepted this, writing that plane tickets are not expensive enough: “Ticket prices do not reflect the full social cost of flying and are not sufficiently incentivising the uptake of decarbonisation solutions such as SAF.”

🙈 UK contributes less than 1% of global emissions. Yet we tax ourselves to pay the highest energy costs on the planet. Our leaders have truly lost the marbles.

Because we are a service economy, not manufacturing.

Last thing I bought “made in the UK” was a coat few years ago.

Feeling quite good then, I have recently bought a full size eastbrook bath, Shower tray, Shower glass, shower wall panels and amtico flooring all manufactured in the UK. I spoke to my bathroom fitter about it and she said that if you look around there is still quite a lot of stuff actually made here, it’s mainly the porcelain, such as toilets and wash basins, plus brassware that are made abroad. Oh and a ton of paint made here.

Last carpets I bought were from Abingdon carpets, which I think are manufactured near Oxford, and have been there for donkeys years and some G Plan and Parker Knoll sofas, which I think are also made here.
