You’ll be owed EU / UK 261 compensation then, as mechanical etc is not deemed an exceptional circumstance out of control for the operatng airline.

Though Vueling is reputed to make that difficult you ahould get it eventually. If you Google up a few threads on here where to address the claim has been mentioned. There would be a thread on flyertalk too.

You also have package holiday compensation rights under UK legislation over a certain length of delay and I’d start there as first on the list as easier to obtain those rights. Rights to EU UK 261 and package hliday protections are not mutually exclusive.
