Made a booking for a double room with free breakfast due to Gold

Forgot to add the Mrs !

So room has 1 adult and breakfast is free.

Went to add 1 guest to the room and it wants to charge me and extra £7

    Chat was no use either…

Cant get my head around why I need to pay extra to add 1 guest to a 2 person room with free breakfast?

Not the £££ just the logic is puzzling me.

    Thoughts?

Which country & City are you staying in? Perhaps a local tourist tax?

    Thanks for the reply.

    Sorry

    UK!

I’ve added an extra guest to the booking which is now showing on the booking.

The actual room rate still shows a 1 adult in the double room, which I cannot change unless I pay the extra-as its a modification to the booking and (assuminlgy prices have gone up).
Thought “Chat” would do it for me-But not without charging me extra

I’m sure all will be fine but maybe its me being paraniod…

‘Second guest stays free’ is a formal Honors benefit for all members. I’ve never had a problem booking for one and noting it in the comments.

2nd Guest Stays Free: A guest stays free in the Member’s room on qualifying stays at hotels when there are additional charges for double occupancy. This benefit excludes stays at any hotel when the rate includes additional components (e.g., meals, activities, parking); specialized rates (e.g. package rates, bed & breakfast rates) or taxes that are quoted as a per person or per room charge; or is an All-Inclusive property.

Email the hotel and say you forgot to add the 2nd guest, it’ll be fine!

No need to do anything as it’s in the UK. Just turn up.
