Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club Advice sought – Cathay rescheduled

Long Story coming up. I have a Executive account and even though i travel a fair bit I have never booked with miles before. I have no used to miles to book 2 separate bookings. This is where it gets complicated. I have booked on the 13/11/24 with Cathay in economy (MAN – HKG). and the return in Business on the 20/11/24 (HKG – MAN)on a partner award. Another friend wanted to come with us and Pay cash, When I searched to get him on the same flight it would appear it has completely vanished from the Cathay schedule for that date and is now running on the 14th and the 21st respectively.
I have tried calling BA and I get the standard line of “you have a confirmation, your flights are as scheduled” and Cathay exactly the same , I even went as far as screenshotting their schedule for that week and it shows no flight on the 13th or 20th.
This happened to me on my last booking with Cathay when I booked a long time in advance and they happened to inform me of a schedule change 4 weeks before I was due to depart. My worry is with it being a partner redemption there will be no award availability.
HAs anyone else had a problem such as this? And any recommendations are much appreciated.
Im half tempted to change the days But this would incur a charge of roughly 70 pounds each for both bookings

I have just had a look at the availabiltiy for you and it seems that the 12th and 13th flights with CX MAN-HKG have been cancelled so you would have been transfered onto the 11th or 14th (More than likely 14th). Same on the 20th and would hazard a guess changed to the 21st. No telling when this cancellation would have taken place however.

It can sometimes take some time for them to send through schedule change information but I would maybe suggest trying calling CX again another day to speak with someone different.

Thank you Charley . I didn’t know if this being a reward flight it would have auto transferred, But you have set my mind at ease.
Its just all a bit strange how they do it and it doesn’t seem to update for weeks. I keep refreshing from time to time and just get the same info , but will hang fire.

    Thanks again

I know the way schedule changes work can be so frutrating at times. I have had it before where i have a flight the same day has been cancelled and the airline still inform me that the flight is running ontime.

You should be transferred to the date closest to your original departure but to be sure i would try again in a few days time.

    Hope it helps!

    Thanks again .
Not having booked using a partner reward before I was getting a sinking feeling that I was going to get an email from Cathay saying “your flight has been cancelled , please contact British Airways” .
