Forums Other Destination advice Anywhere interesting to spend 1 night near Abama Tenerife?

Got a short stay booked at the Ritz Carlton Tenerife. Our flight gets into TFS at 8ish the night before our stay, so don’t need a 5* place to crash out for the first night.

Anywhere nearby the Ritz or the airport with less of a ‘resort’ feel, so we can see another interesting bit of the island? We won’t have a car with us. Or are we better just embracing the fly and flop and going to the Ritz Carlton on our first night? There’s an OK price via Amex FHR…

I think I’d just go straight to the Ritz Carlton. Going somewhere else on the way means you can only check into the RC around 3pm on your second day. Which wastes the morning which could be spent by the pool.

You’re not going to see much of the other place on the night you arrive and how much would you see in the morning given you’d need to check out at 11am and then make your way to the RC.

I agree, it’s all pretty resort-y between the airport and the RC so you may as well just head there and not have to move again the next day. I had a similar dilemma over an upcoming Madrid stay where we’ll be arriving late, but decided in the end just to book the IC for all 4 nights and remove the extra layer of faffery!

    Enjoy, I love Tenerife!

Would love to hear what the RC Abama is like these days, as we’re heading there in a few weeks’ time. Let us know if you had anything specifically great to try in any of the restaurants. Thanks!

Thanks – yeah, decided to go for the extra night in the RC. Will let you know how I get on @bobthebuilder. It looks like restaurants sometimes book out in the resort, so probably makes sense to book some meals in advance if you haven’t already
