Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club Avios flight likely delayed by 3 hours: any options for changing flight?

  • 18 posts

Just spoke to BA first helpline and out flight is showing is delayed by three hours.

Do I have any right to change my flight?

There’s a flight to Heathrow that I’d prefer to be on, rather than Gatwick. But there’s no Avios availability

My question is “if they’re three hours late, can I change my flight regardless of Avios availability”

Unfortunately, delay does not give rise to any rebooking or rerouting rights. At three hours you may be entitled to compensation if the delay is within the airline’s control. At five hours you have the right to a refund.

    No.

Puzzled though as neither BA flight status or JFK departures is showing any delay on the JFK-LGW flight tonight

    Thanks all
It was worth a try! I think we’ve got the old style biz seats back and was hoping to change to the a350 AND Heathrow rather than Gatwick

I called BA as I had notification of a flight cancellation when I logged in. “Your flight has been cancelled, click Manage My Booking for options”, when I did I couldn’t see any issues, so I called BA who said “not cancelled, but showing as a likely delay by three hours… but please turn up on time”

I mean if it’s in airport control then feel free to ask if there is a BA ticketing desk at JFK. They have more ability to do something than the CS

@dc27 doesn’t mention JFK. I think he/she might be in Vegas. There is a LGW flight early afternoon on a Tuesday and a late evening flight back to LHR, which is a much better plane. We came back a couple of weeks ago on a Tuesday – OH and I to LHR, daughter to LGW.
