Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

    Hi all,

    A rather niche question today.

Usually I am quite good with this stuff, but today I’m struggling. I will be switching energy supplier to British Gas, and I can do it via USwitch for the same price.

I can either get £40 cash back through Quidco direct with British Gas, or 3,000 Avios via USwitch. I have a plentiful supply of Avios, awaiting use for our next flight, but I am unsure as to what is better value here – the cash back or the Avios.

Would anyone be able to shed light on this and what they would rather do?

    Thanks!

3,000 avios will get you £30 off a short haul flight

Even with my covid befuddled brain £40 is nore than £30

    I’d take the cash

Assuming that both routes actually paid the cash back out, £40 would enable you to buy a little over 4,000 Avios using Avios booster. Cash is also more flexible and not subject to BAEC overnight devaluation. Quidco is probably more likely to payout than the Avios estore.

Thank you both! Quidco it is! 🙂
