Forums Payment cards Barclaycard Avios BA Barclays Cabin Upgrade Voucher

    Hi,

I just realised BA forces you to use the most expensive option when using the upgrade voucher.
    For example say
    LHR – HKG
    100k – £500
    90k – £600
    80k – £650
    … etc
(Not actual figures just made up)

When using the upgrade voucher it makes you take the 100k £500 option, is there any way around this? I’ve had a look in the t&cs and can’t seem to find where they specify this. any advice or news is appreciated. Thank you

You’re several months late to this party @bomba! You can find extensive discussions on here about this annoying feature, plus a very helpful article Rob did last year, but in a nutshell, no, there’s no way around this, so you need to decide whether the given option is good value for you or not.

Ahahaha well damn, only got to it today, had it for a few months. Thanks anyway for that. Any chance you could link the article? @NorthernLass Thanks

I’m not Anna but this one is probably the most instructive:

The most expensive option typically isn’t a bad deal at all unless you are Avios poor.

If you are Avios poor then it may be worth considering an Avios subscription depending on the sort of value you are getting on your preferred routes:
