That’s A351, B788, Gatwick B772s or LHR B772L with Club Suite.
Looks like BKK is Gatwick, flights on sale tomorrow.
Are you ready with your 2-4-1s?
Hi is this 100% correct that BA will be operating flights to BKK and on sale tomorrow
Wish to use 2-4-1 should I call after midnight to usa office ?
So we would have to call midnight tonight midnight tomorrow?
BA has much higher profitability requirements than the other low margin European airlines that are supposedly coining it on this route. BA is commercially very savvy; they aren’t missing anything here; it’s just not worth their while.
Some of those European airlines also operate the route for reasons relating to political agreements around earlier takeovers rather than because it is such a wonderful commercial destination. Thailand is no longer the luxury destination it once was, so there is less high fare premium tourist demand as well as little high fare business demand and cargo opportunities are apparently not great. When this subject is raised the route length is often raised which is also a very key consideration – to tie up an aircraft for so long on a thin route is difficult to justify on top of the crewing complexities/cost.
Ah ha is that the sound of @JDB eating his hat?
I think this was the consensus amongst most observers of the BA operation, including the owner of this site. It’s brilliant news for sure, but objectively pretty unexpected.

Why not book it online ?
So BA will need to do some flight adjustments at Gatwick to fit these flights to BKK in.
My guess is the reduced flight destinations might have capacity increases at LHR due to the arrival of new A351s and B781s
Haha @HampshireHog. I’ll only eat a bit of hat as thrice weekly from Gatwick rather says it all about that route.

Make sure it’s a fedora.

But most observers are just that. Looking on from the outside yet they often present opinion as fact. Maybe more circumspection wouldn’t go amiss and less hostility to those that question consensus as the first page of this thread adequately proves.

Slots presumably aren’t an issue, given that Easyjet has released 3000 back to BA for Summer 24. Long Haul aircraft maybe more so, but nothing to stop BA moving additional 3 class 777s from Heathrow to Gatwick opening some possibility of Club Suites (G-YMMJ was operating Gatwick services until yesterday, and had been for some weeks).
G-YMMJ was covering for aircraft that were in maintenance, nothing more.
Will interlining with Bangkok Airways at BKK return?
Just deleted my previous post as the news is already out..Disappointed that BA have decided to fly from.Gatwick and only 3 x week though
Were Avios redemptions priced at the same rate as SIN, for KUL?
GC map shows ~6500 miles and old award chart shows 175k Avios for J off-peak return for KUL.
Using Barclays vouchers, if same price as SIN, that would be 220k + £1200 tax for J off-peak return for two people
Does this sound about right?

But that doesn’t mean the option doesn’t exist to boost the numbers that way…

I believe it was in the next band down, same as Bangkok.
KUL was definitely 105k J / 140k F
BKK was 90k J
Peak.
Nothing right now. Maybe a midday release?
