Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club Booking reward flight from INV with LHR connection

  • 1 post

    Good evening.

I am exploring booking a reward flight from INV > LHR > DBX return.

When I select INV as the departure airport, I am unable to select anything from the dropdown menu except for LHR, therefore it looks like I am unable to book a reward flight from INV. This is the case both on the BA website and Avios app.

Does anyone have any experience with a similar issue from LHR?

    Many thanks in advance.

I am confused at your post.

The only drop down menu on a booking is for whether you wish to make a stopover.

The only stopover option is London.

Either select “no, I want to continue without a stopover” or choose your flights using the stopover in London option and you will be able to fly to Dubai.

If the above isn’t your issue, can you elaborate?

Are you getting the “There was a problem with your request” after the first booking page? If so you might need to try another browser or possibly call BA to book.

Also, have you checked that there is availability on both legs with a viable connection time?

I’ve just plugged in random dates Inv-LHR-DXB return and reward flights have popped up.

DBX doesn’t seen to be recognised. Have you got the right airport code?

@Kylemac100 – I assume you mean Dubai and were trying DXB. Our kids and other family members have sometimes had issues trying to book Avios ticket from INV to DXB and elsewhere. As said above you need to make sure there’s space on an early flight from INV and also click on continue with no stopovers. Sometimes it comes up with message saying call, but we have found if you close down and start again, it often works. My SiL, who was staying with us last week had similar issues, but eventually managed to book.

Update. There seems to be an issue. I’ve been looking at Avios flights from MAD to EZE early next year. It’s a direct flight but I keep getting asked if I want a stopover. When I select no, I am getting a message to say there is an issue – on one occasion to call and another to try again later. BA IT at its best!

That’s what I’m seeing this morning on dummy bookings, it usually sorts itself within a day or so, although I appreciate that’s not helpful if you want to book something now! Happens less with Chrome, IME.

@Kylemac100 Are you using the Avios app to search? The “Find a British Airways Reward Seat” does not work – you will only get LHR as the destination. If so you need to scroll down to the bottom of the page and select the “Spending Avios” link. That will take you to a sign in page for the BA mobile website and allow you to input INV as departure and DXB as destination. You will then get the option to stop over as per @Froggee post.
