Hi
I made a redemption booking using a companion voucher last week on return premium flights. I can now see that upper has come down to a level on the outbound that I have points for
Is it possible to upgrade this, it’s 20k points more than what I paid for the outbound flight and apart from extra taxes are there any other costs to pay ?
Shouldn’t be no. Just cost of upgrade with points and taxes. Ring them. If you get Swansea they are very helpful
Absolutely you can, just call them. However you’re likely to find that price has changed as VS pricing can change up to 3 times a day so do it quickly.
The taxes and charges now depend on the number of points for the ticket. Anything under 50k it’s a lower rate, over 50k and it at least doubles from what I’ve been able to make out (with help from other posters)
Has anyone had any recent experience upgrading one leg of their trip?
For example, recently I called up to upgrade the inbound flight from premium to upper as I’d saw it was now a saver fare. When they calculated it, they quoted me over 300k. I said that can’t be right. When they looked a bit deeper, they saw it was re-pricing the outbound flight (which had now quadrupled in price) and there was nothing they can do.
Is this correct, or could the right agent have made this work?
I don’t know, but if correct then it’s another good reason to book as two single journeys, albeit with the risk of double fees should you have to cancel.

Sadly it’s right, if you have two legs on one booking it does the recalculation on both legs even if you are trying to change one.
Booking them separately as individual legs does avoid this but beware the £70 cancellation fees per booking
