I have a flight tomorrow evening, just tried checking in and it says ‘We’re sorry, you can’t check-in online. Please check-in at the airport to collect your boarding pass.’
I definitely have an issued ticket (I’ve had a problem in the past where somehow a ticket wasn’t issued for a European flight on BA despite it looking entirely normal on the app, PLUS a recent issue where I allegedly didn’t board my outbound flight so my inbound was cancelled. So I really don’t trust BA or Oneworld systems). I also used my RJ number to select the seats for me and the other passenger, these still show in manage my booking. However, I noticed when going through the check in process it says no seats allocated and when I try to select some, it doesn’t work after confirming.
Manage my booking still shows the seats we chose months ago. I guess this is just an IT issue and not worth worrying about?
Probably! I have had this many times, twice it was because one of us was SSSS en route to the USA, but the other times BA had no idea why it was. I would just make sure you get to the airport in plenty of time, just in case.

Fingers crossed all is ok! I don’t fancy being downgraded, especially on an overnight flight.
Yes, this is infuriating isn’t it. Same thing just happened to my wife, and I spent much of the day worrying it was because she had been downgraded. But in the end it was just (yet) another BA technical glitch.
The vast majority of times this happens is because the airline – any not just BA – needs to see the passengers Passport (and other visa documents if applicable) and scan them into the system.
Reasons like SSSS or downgrades aren’t a major cause for this happening and it maybe the immigration authorities of the destination country requiring it.
Where are you flying from? There are still a few European stations where there is no online check in – Split is one of them IIRC
Flying from LHR. The issue appears to be because we had a one way ticket. An onwards flight is booked from Doha (with Qatar) but the return is from Bangkok with a different airline. So I guess they may see the onward flight but not the return. I also can’t check in for the Qatar airlines flight departing from Doha to Bangkok and it’s presumably the same reason.
