Booked a flight on BA, right after adding payment method got a payment error. No card verification screen either.

Moved on to buy externally. Just as I am seconds from paying, by chance I check my email and there it is, BA email drops stating successfully purchased. Very dodgy IT.

Similar experience with Premier inn, booking failed after payment authorisation with Amex twice two days ago, both transactions changed from pending to paid today and no booking. Hugely looking forward to calling Premier inn then Amex. Grrrr

Any experiences of wait times through T5 fast track security during this latest wave of strikes? Am travelling tomorrow and just wondering if experiences are much the same as last time.

Huge lines way beyond the immigration hall arriving into Heathrow Terminal 3 just now

T5 immigration wasn’t ideal yesterday afternoon either, what made it more painful is that we only made it as far as the T5B lounge before the flight got cancelled and we had to land ourselves back to London!

    What was their excuse?

BA’s? The IT systems went down as usual, a good chunk of the short-haul network got canned. Continuing into today too.

BA compounded this yesterday by cancelling all flights after a certain time but then reinstated about 20 flights so not so many cancellations today.

Most MAN services are cancelled today and tomorrow. In-laws got to LHR by taxi this morning to be told they had been rebooked MAN-INV-LHR-BDA!! Fortunately they managed to get re-rebooked onto their original flight.

Slightly O/T ish but I always like to listen to peoples opinions and experiences.

Got a busy weekend ahead and staying at HI Bromsgrove tonight and checking in at around 1am before leaving in the morning for a wedding near Hereford. staying there Saturday night and then Sunday (my birthday) going to venture to London.
I chose Park plaza Park Royal as I just wanted to get rid of my radisson points tbh. It’s very close to central line and then meeting a few people at White City for cocktails. There’s a couple of things at theatre I was interested in but they don’t appear to start until June. May use my Amex platinum dining credit, nothing too flashy, if anyone as any ideas.
2 main questions really. Where do we eat? And where is best place to park? Think we are thinking park at Perivale tube station then just hop on central line one stop before walking to park plaza Park Royal. This avoids any charges for going in the ULEZ zone. Any suggestions for cheap and convenient parking are more than welcome.
On Monday we will be going to Wembley to watch the League 1 play off final, then head straight to the car wherever it is parked before heading straight up Norff.

    TIA

ULEZ is generally for diesels 8yrs+ old and petrol 17+ years old

I use JustPark in London (and elsewhere)

(Full disclosure, I did invest in JP a few years back, but receive no benefits…)

    ExpatInBerlin

@yorkshireRich there is also a 10% cashback offer for Just Park on the BAPP at the moment if that helps, valid for another 5 days. Minimum spend £10.

I had my BA LHR to Vienna cancelled yesterday. Would I be elegible for compensation and what method is most likely to be successful?

Since then I’ve taken a hotel which I’ll claim for and got rebooked arriving 12 hours late.

    Thanks

    NorthernLass

It depends on the reason for cancellation – I’m guessing though that it was linked to the IT issues and AFAIK this isn’t classed as “extraordinary circumstances” (unless there has been a subsequent ruling after the last IT fiasco). You need to look up the relevant legislation – there are threads about this stuff on here and then submit a claim in the first instance to BA for what you’re owed, including hotel/meals.

Does anyone know if Asda gift cards (purchased from PAW) can be used to purchase petrol at Asda stations?
    TIA.

I have just received an email from american express announcing ‘Dine Small’. No details and link leads to 2022 shop Small.
It sounds like dining only but in keeping with tradition, examples are farm shop (with restaurant), hardware shop and hairdresser.
    Has anyone seen any details?

Couldn’t see a way to use one to PAP, do ASDA have any staffed petrol stations?

I think they’re just trying to promote using an Amex at small businesses, I don’t think any deal is coming

I have a Hilton stay coming up soon. I am a Diamond and expecting an upgrade from the Standard room. If I check in via the app, can I still get upgraded or should I check-in at the reception to get an upgrade?

    ABA

As a Diamond you should receive an email few days prior to your stay saying you have been upgraded ( In my experience at least) which will also show on your Hilton app. If not offered prior to check in then your best chances would be to check in at the reception.
