Think I might try to use Liverpool more often, if there departure experience is equally as good, it will knock the socks off Manchester Airport!
Yes it is. Although last time I flew out of there I punctured a tyre half a mile before the turnoff, limped into the long stay car park and dumped it there. Then had to wait 2.5 hours after landing on my return flight for the AA to arrive and recover the car the 35 miles back to my home. (no spare tyre on that company car, just a useless can of foam 🙁 )
At Hilton Stucky Venice. There was a review on this not too long ago. Half decent place – nice to be on a separate island, views good (decent upgrade), Hilton shuttle works fine. But the exec lounge. Urg. Worst food offering I think I’ve ever had. Even when there wasn’t one. And no spirits. Massively lets the place down – wouldn’t stay again.
Oh no, I’ll be there after the summer.
Do you mean the lounge only has wine/beer?
Is the shuttle free with a timetable? Where does it connect you exactly?
How is the breakfast? The shuttle boat is free and has the hotel’s name on it. But it starts IIRC after 10am and only goes to St Marks until the evening when it also stops at Zattere. As I was there for work, I had to pay for the Alilaguna boat that runs all day to Zattere. Coning to/from the airport, I suggest you get the Alilaguna one stop to/from Tronchetto. You can have a car pick you up/drop you at Tronchetto. Saves a lot of time on the boat to the airport
I have a booking for Crowne Plaza Felbridge at the end of the month. Went back to look at the dates and suddenly nothing else available to book. Just found out it’s been sold to Britannia Hotels. Slightly shocked. Liked it there. Seems too good a hotel to be taken over by them. Won’t be staying there now – Worth cancelling or do you get anything out of IHG for them cancelling on you?
Oh. That’s a pity. Stayed there a number of times including during Covid when just wanted to get away from home. We quite liked it too. Also been there for events and functions. May be it will be another hotel for asylum seekers – there are quite a few in the area being so close to Gatwick.
Hiya,
easyJet refusing comp for cancelled flight from AMS on 29 Dec to Edinburgh saying that “due to earlier weather conditions our ground crew were not able to safely work, and as a result the airport authorities deemed it necessary to suspend all ground operations.”
Looked like there were still a bunch of flights departing as normal though.
Anyone know where I could find details of departure info on that day to support an appeal?
Thanks
I think I would ask them for further detail as to “in which area” (I wouldn;t say “at which airport”) the ground operations problems were were and how were they affected. As you were not able to disccern problems with other flights leaving etc and would like to resolve this without taking further steps. They might ignore you but at least you’ll have shown willing to engage with them before going to arbitration with them – I forget who Easyjet is signed up with.
It should also be noted that Easyjet doesn’t usually run their flights out and back from the same place – they are all over the place. The plane incoming for you won’t have come from Edinburgh or anywhere near I would bet, and after Edinburgh if the crew does not go off duty then they won’t be going to AMS. This owuld not be normal for Easyjet, at all, and they are very dynamic in the way they change which aircraft go where according to conditions in the course of a day and how they roster them (I used to fly every week with Easyjet at one time, so observed this.)
I am also sad to say that Easyjet has sometimes claimed they are operating within certain parameters when they are not – I have personal experinece of this such as when they tried to say a flight had only been rescheduled not cancelled and had somehow been moved to a time 14 hours later – and had the flight number of their normal flight on that route scheduled 14 hours later…. etc.
So I do think it is worth you pursuing this, at least to arbitration if necessary, and I wouldn’t feed them the fact that they can claim a problem up to 3 rotations earlier in the day for that plane (which is nonsense given how dynamic their scheduling of which plane goes where each day is anyway all the time). They have, literally, Hundreds of planes in the air over Europe each day. They dynamically readjust which plane goes where accordingly – they are really good at it. So personally I think unless htere were widespread problems at many locations, if Easyjet ever claimed a problem 3 rotations back for your flight as an excuse, sorry it would just have to be a lie. I would just say you are puzzled as’ all’ (or whatever you can say) other flights seemed to be leaving on time and could they please provide some further detail as to in which area the ground problem was as you are hoping not to have to take it further. Keep extensive notes, date and time, of every communication on this with them.
And I’d really like to know how this turns out. It would be great if you could start a thread in the Flight Cancellations… section of this forum so that we can all follow it.
Good luck Keith.
@NorthernLass Having experienced trains out of Euston today, then I strongly recommend you don’t rely on Avanti to get you back home next Sunday. Trains are infrequent (I got to the station at 5.45pm, and there was an Avanti sardine can leaving then nothing on the board for them at all in the next 2 hours). The strike timetable will be subject to last minute changes anyway but anything they are running will be so unpleasantly packed its not going to be a nice experience.
Local trains to the west midlands are packed too as Avanti passengers attempt to get to their destinations that way. Thanks @Ant. My railcard expires this week and I feel like I am over my recent fling with land-based public transport after several years on a break 🤦🏻♀️😂. We have done 4 U.K. city breaks during that period and 3 of those had the return journey cancelled.
Planes and automobiles for me, going forward (literally).
Hi all. I am trying to book JAL flights between PVG – KIX and HND – PVG in early May. I am having trouble booking them due to me being in UK anyone able to provide a link to the correct website
thanks
I booked KIX – PVG on the BA website; cheap as chips with Avios rather than cash.

I would strongly recommend AVOIDING this hotel at all costs and the news it has been sold to Brittania explains why my brothers and I had a really bad stay there over 5 nights last November. We had 6 rooms over the course of 5 nights and every room had the heating set to be switched off after approx 2 hrs use. We were not in a position to decamp or even make much of a protest (I have ihg plat elite) because wer were staying there to deal with a family emergency nearby. I complained in writing to the mgnt afterwards and they denied the hotel was cold (we heard other guests complaining at reception too ) and they suppressed my review.
