Seen on the NY subway today, an series of adverts for BA on the LCD screens. The format was a white screen with 3 bullet points as follows:
( ) Business
( ) Leisure
(X) Routine MaintenanceBA – A British Original
So they’re telling us that they can’t fly anyone because they’re offline for maintenance yet again? Wow, what a positive message to advertise to their biggest market.
There were a sequence of adverts, the bottom line replaced by:
(x) To go off script
(x) Because the doors are closing on this situation ship
(x) British accents
(x) To make actual eye contactSo their ad agency is as utterly hopeless as their IT then!
Good morning from Lombok!
As @Gordon said Wednesday‘s disruption due to the volcano lasted just a few hours.
We’re now on the taxi on our way to the Oberoi.
The island is so green that looks like we’re back in Kauai!
@Optimus Prime – Glad you made it, I am in contact with people out there on a regular basis, so if there’s anything you wanted to know, I will try and find an answer! You’re not too far from Gili islands, are you visiting? Great snorkeling!
Enjoy your trip.Quick time sensitive question. OH is BA gold travelling in J on AA this morning from T3 LHR, which is the best lounge?

Enjoy your trip.Yes, we’ll be going snorkelling to the Gili islands and have also booked a full day tour around Lombok.
We’re here only five days and OH wants to chill out before going to Bali.
I’m being spammed to death by Founderscard at the minute. Does this have any worthwhile benefits? On first glance, it appears to be a naff Amex plat.
Good morning from Mablethorpe, it’s not quite full but it will be soon.
A big positive shout for the crew on BA0659 yesterday, who not only had to contend with apologizing to everyone after row three for there being no chicken, and endlessly explaining that they constantly fed this info back to the powers that be, but also had to contend with a berk (moi) who rather dramatically fell over getting on the bus from the gate to the aircraft.
I was doing the stoic Brit thing of trying not to complain, when halfway through the flight, queuing for the toilet I was asked if I was OK and I said no, as my left foot had swollen to twice its size and appeared to be leaking a red substance between my toes, it was also hard to stand for the pain.
They sat me in a drop down seat expertly wrapped my foot in a compression bandage, and tried to give me sugar items for shock, then covered me in a blanket, & arranged a wheelchair to collect me from the aircraft. I then mused as to if Ryanair would have charged me for the bandage and biscuits. It was one of those situations when they were so kind I wanted to cry.
BA has suspended flights to Doha & Dubai
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2025/06/22/british-airways-suspends-flights-dubai/Crikey, that’s a chunk of closed airspace and some annoyed travellers, I guess.
Possible resumption tomorrow and re-booking offered up to July 6th. I guess we’ll know soon.
@Misty – ouch but sounds like you were well-treated! Hope the swelling subsides soon.BA has suspended flights to Doha & Dubai

But it does seem an overreaction. I think it is unlikely that Israel or Iran would attack Qatar or the UAE.BA has suspended flights to Doha & Dubai

Yep, massive military bases in Qatar and Bahrain.

If you are a club member give them a “gold card”, and email to BA, could some here suggest best person / address to email

Thanks to you both.
I was thinking that it would be good to send a positive email but not sure who to, as there is often so much negativity about that the good things often seem to get lost in dispatches. I am now officially ‘old hop along’ for the next few days at least.
@Misty hope you recover quickly.
I tripped on the step getting onto a bus in Pittsburgh last year and went down hard on my knees. Nothing hurt apart from my pride and a little blood spilt but the bus driver pulled over and spent 10 mins filling out an incident report and kept asking if I was ok.
The other passengers were not amused at the delay and honestly neither was I.
@strickers thank you so much I will send something off tomorrow
@davefl I was also really embarrassed, two kind gents on the bus sort of hauled me up and sat me in the single chair for disabled folk, and I managed to get up the stairs to the aircraft, it isn’t great today tbh, but it could have been a lot worse.OH whilst being concerned of course, also said ‘oh well at least we will get through passports quickly’ !
Young man who was pushing the wheelchair was really nice, took me all the way from aircraft to bus stop 30.

Probably – and Ryanair would have also charged extra as you hadnt pre-booked first aid online

Sent away as the lounge was supposedly too busy. He ended up in the BA lounge that was ‘perfectly pleasant’.
