This is today’s chat thread.
If you have specific questions about Avios, hotels or credit cards, please ask them in the appropriate forum and not here. This thread is a good place to post interesting deals you have spotted or your general thoughts on travel and all things miles and points. Thank you for contributing.
Good morning all from Osaka ITM airport which we are doing a domestic flight to Haneda. Have to say with status and how quick it is as an airport and security. It might work out faster than the bullet train and it was a lot cheaper!
Morning all – has anyone stayed at Carmo’s Boutique hotel near Ponte da Lima in northern Portugal? It seems like decent use of Hilton points for 5 nights at an SLH property in August, but the reviews are a bit mixed, as are the responses from the management (who I think are also the owners), one of which says that the dissatisfied guest deserves a slap 😱 😂

Ahahaha. Every public facing business will have encountered customers where this is in fact true; but 99% keep that thought to themselves for fear of adverse publicity. I’d book – seems to be no downside. Either you’ll encounter passionate management and therefore a well run hotel; or you’ll encounter the Portuguese version of Basil Fawlty with all the entertainment that will bring.
I’d be more inclined to give an owner who publicly tells bad reviewers where to go my business.
morning all, can anyone please recommend a nice hotel in Barcelona that has two beds in a room with some separation and a bathroom that has a proper door? 🙂 planning to share a room with a friend and would like a twin/2 doubles room where the beds are properly separated and not attached at the headboard. Will also like a proper bathroom than the open plan/glass partition that seems to have become popular these days! thank you.
Greeting from the Carlton Cannes Beach Club 🙂
I used the IHG suite upgrade voucher on the cheapest non-points booking which I made almost a year ago and have been given a top floor suite with terrace and partial sea views. Delighted!
Suspect everyone has already gone off to Monaco for the GP as it’s not very busy.

What did that particular review say? 😀 It sounds like there is more to the incident than meets the eye. At least you know how the hotel treats some reviews and they do not always subscribe to the view that the customer is always right. I hope you decide to go and then do a trip report to tell us all.
Not sure how widespread, but BA has joined Airtime rewards with a 2% rebate on holidays, 1% on long haul, and 0.5% on short haul.
Shame it doesn’t work with Amex.

I have a ton of travel, Virgin, Emirates, Avis, IHG, Hilton etc but they’re all affiliate marketed like TCB and estore, so rely on cookies and click through. So unlike normal Airtime retailers that can be seen by them on your card statement they may or may not pay out.
The only advantage I can see is that IHG, Hilton and Avis have no geographical/brand restrictions in the Ts&Cs. Hilton only pay out 0.5% for Gold and above.
Quick lounge report: T3 Plaza Premium, Toronto YYZ
Pros:
The very nice man at reception put the Monaco f1 on the televisual device for me.
The jasmine tea is lovely.
The breakfast buffet was actually okay. Good tasting sausages.
Plenty of places to charge devices
Cons:
It’s tiny. Prebook. 58 seats and it’s remained rammed all morning.

Thansk and I checked and avilable on mine too.
All involve following a link to the compaanues wensite and app booking specifically available.
I’ve noticed this happens with some of the MBNA rebates as well for e.g. expedia who require to follow the link whereas the likes of IHG don’t so you can double dip with TCB

I downgraded last week, and the pro-rata refund was automatic.
