Things are looking up – a twin pack of McVities chocolate digestives as the snack on BA Euroflyer this morning, and a second pack for good measure. Not sure if that was just because they had some left over or for the empty seats next to me.

punctuality record of 90% and McVitie’s biscuits (other brands are available) passengers are getting spoilt!

Following the release of extra flights from Qatar mentioned this week I looked at redemption avios options. Could anyone clarify the difference between U and I class on Avios redemption with Qatar. The lower number of Avios required for U class suggests it is a complimentary upgrade. Has anyone found their flights downgraded when booking into this class and is it safer on a two stage journey (London-Doha-Entebbe) to use the I class flexi option?

I had a medical emergency while on holiday which was booked using Virgin points and taxes paid through mastercard. Can i claim for medical hospital expenses on Amex Platinum?

@Mankhool if it states that you do not need to have paid for certain items on your Amex card, then yes you should be able to make a claim./

I would just call the insurance help line and query this before proceeding to make a claim just for clarity.

If the Four Seasons offer is checkout spend only, I want to 100% check that I could get two nights and then reach the spend limit with F&B etc on-site?

For those of us that spend a significant chunk of our time living outside the U.K. is there any source of info on say where Amex issues credit cards and if sign up bonuses are as significant as in the U.K. ?

Can I double check re AA baggage allowance on short-haul US departures? I know I get 3 x 23kg free as OWE, but will OH as zero status get any allowance? I seem to recall previous posts saying all members of a party would get free baggage but can’t see anything to confirm this on AA website.

We may need to check in an extra wheelie case as a result of shopping this week!

Anyone been through Marrakesh airport arrivals and departures lately as I’ve read some stories about it taking a long time and the only fast track I can see costs €150 per person?

    Milk or Dark?

An inflight survey amongst my five traveling companions suggests all milk.

I acknowledge the professionalism which corrected my missing apostrophe 😀

Depends on what other flights are landing around the time yours does.
Last time, via the BA LHR morning departure, there were no queues at all at arrivals.
However, the usual need to show your passport to millions of pointless security people in order to control local unemployment numbers still exists and might delay you a bit.

On previous visits I’ve had upto I think twenty minutes of queues for the first passport control / checks (arriving with low cost carriers).

Fast track seems to help on the way out, where there is likely to be long queues and if you’re being quoted £150 (which doesn’t sound right), you should check if it’s cheaper to just fly back with BA in Club Europe

Dark chocolate on my last BAEF flight. I read the ingredients and only ate half a biscuit.

If anyone is heading to Europe, India or China in the next few months there’s a great deal through Money Saving Expert for a Lebara sim. 79p a month for 9 months, rolling 30 day contract so cancel at any time, 35Gb of data. It includes roaming in the 3 areas I mentioned. It also includes 100 mins of international calling including the USA so possibly a good replacement for Skype.

Well to their credit Latam have agreed to pay out in full from the cancelled flight just over a month ago. 30% of the ticket price in compensation plus all incurred expenses for hotel, ubers and food.

Not sure if it has been shared previously: there are some Women’s Six Nations experience packages available for redemption at IHG. 5k for a pair of tickets or 7k including some behind the scenes bits.

Good afternoon from a quietish B lounge at T5 on the way to a 241 ‘unicorn’ destination of Male. We’ve previously been to the ultimate ‘unicorn’ destination of Sydney and have also booked a return to another unicornesque destination of St Lucia next year. It does go to show you can get these destinations if you’re on the ball. A very premium heavy 777, it’ll be interesting to see what the service is like at the back of the cabin. One slightly annoying thing about the Maldives is that I can’t find a regional or global esim that covers it. Esims just for the Maldives seem to be disproportionately expensive? I’ll stick to the hotel WiFi. Back via a week in Sri Lanka and transit Bengaluru.

Finally, since starting this ‘hobby’ about 7 years ago, it does seem to me that the BA T5B lounge food has gotten a bit better recently, especially compared to US lounges? Whispering Angel very underwhelming though.

Agreed on both counts, I think the T5B lounge is the one to go for if you can, food is decent enough for a lounge and can normally sit somewhere quietish …and whispering angel is pretty rubbish. I know @JDB is a fan tho…
