Good Evening, from the Emerald loft suite at 100 Luxury suites Bogota, smooth check in yesterday afternoon, back here for a few nights, before heading home, via Madrid, similar suites as York luxury suites in Medellin.
The main difference is the 10c cooler climate, and the higher altitude, which takes a little getting used to, but the upside of the lower temperature is, it’s ideal for walking and sightseeing.
Posted this last night in yesterday’s daily chat, don’t think I’ve seen it covered elsewhere, ba.com are offering a 60k Avios sub for the BAPP – https://www.britishairways.com/content/executive-club/avios/collecting-avios/credit-cards – closes 25 feb, 7k on the free ba Amex.

Hi @Gordon did you stay at the York Luxury Suites in Medellin? If so would you recommend and is it in a good location? Need to book somewhere for my trip later in the year
The Times is reporting that the abandoned Virgin Hotel has been sold to Martin Property Group.

@ed_fly, presumably a previous Amex Plat makes you ineligible?
I am on the 423 bus and at the Thistle hotel large group of people trying to get on. As well as the usual issues with getting people to understand that each passenger needs their own form of payment, the drivr is telling them he has done them a favour! “No suitcases on the 423 and they should be using the Hoppa buses.”
Hard to argue but would it not help if there were signs telling people this and about the payment issue. I get regulars will know but visitors, as especially those just in transit won’t understand this
@Biki – Yes I would definitely recommend York Luxury suites, it’s in a fairly quiet area of El Poblado, to give you an idea on location, it’s around a 20 to 30 minute journey by cab to the J line cable car Station.
If you are booking tours, there are pick up areas within 10 mins cab ride from the suites. If I were to return to Medellin, I would stay at this property again, even if if only for the magnificent views across the city by day and night, from the large veranda.
I am writing a trip report, that is almost completed, so look out for it shortly, in the Destination forum.
PS – I did reply to your previous request, last week, but you must have missed it?

Thanks Gordon. Sorry, I didn’t see your replay last week. I look forward to your trip report!
F1 fans (with a healthy Avios balance!) wanting to go the F1 75 Live event on the 18th February:
Qatar Airways Privilege Club have now released a pair of tickets for Auction. Includes the £400 F&B spend. Will the record of 136k (Paul McCartney) for an O2 event be broken?…

Just on a flight back to LHR. A passenger nearby is on the phone giving a friend some avios credit card advice. The passenger mentioned that the BA amex companion vouchers never expire. Oh dear…
I’d be very annoyed that someone was making a voice call! Definitely don’t correct them, lol. Maybe mention that it’s really, really easy to use the never-expiring companion vouchers to Tokyo, Singapore and Maldives at Christmas.
BA just took 3k avios points off me from my Apple phone purchase 1 year ago!
Im not happy just looked on the BA Shopping site to complain and no contact us form or phone number! FFS not happy! Anyone got a contact number or email address so i can kick off???? 😡Very poor show on the part of BA, but you might get more of a result if you don’t actually kick off, and try and stay calm, even though I would want to kick off as well.(I’m beginning to sound like JDB)
@bloomy – ah, the dreaded clawback. At one time I chased up a couple of these with the retailers directly. Both (wine and cosmetics) said they had no knowledge of the points being removed and they hadn’t authorised it. There was definitely an online form back then, and I did complain and get the avios reinstated, but decided after that that it’s just not worth the aggro.

Yes, just now.
Hi there
I’m trying (and failing) to get Qatar award flights between KUL and LHR. I’ve seen there is availability between KUL and DOH. If I book this leg, can I book the second leg at a later date then Qatar air join the tickets up for me (so I don’t have to get bags and checkin etc again)?
Thanks!
They won’t put the flights on one ticket, but it’s been reported here that they can be known to check bags through. Your biggest risk is going to be missing the 2nd flight due to a delay (or QR messing things up by changing flight times) – you have no EU/UK261 compensation rights if this happens.

It’s quite sneaky, isn’t it – because I guess they’d like you to rate the EC as it currently stands. I provided my responses with the April changes in mind!

If the DOH-LHR sector becomes available, QR will put this on one ticket although you need to call for this, but they are not always willing then to reprice it as one journey, so you may end up paying for the two legs separately. I would try to avoid having it on two bookings if possible. From Asian outstations, QR will usually check your bags through to London even if you did end up with two tickets.
Re the reference to EC261 above, you wouldn’t have that in any scenario but in the event of disruption/missed connection QR would standardly rebook you without issue (often pre-emptively) and would also usually cover the cost of accommodation if that became necessary; you essentially have the protections but no compensation.
If anyone is wanting to use their 2-4-1 for First class back from the US around next New Year, when I looked on BA website in the early hours of this morning, there were quite a few dates with 2 seats available from Atlanta, including 5 January which is first day for off peak pricing.

Same – I also fed back with April in mind
Good evening from BA Business Class lounge at LGW. Very calm (not surprising as one only BA flight left today, ours to BKK). New chairs and pods and a very nice bar (installed about 4 weeks ago apparently) so no more apologetic accosting of harassed staff member for a cheeky glass of champers.
Food offering a bit meh as per – though we stopped off at Itsu (to use our Vitality reward for doing lots of steps last month, another reward over-optimising/thinking path my brain spends it’s time on). Amounts of food are plentiful though – must be huge wastage everyday.
Wonder how many fellow travellers here are HfP readers who nabbed the reward flights back on that fateful day in March (when LGW-BKK went live ). Thanks again Rob!Some good news from the new government Transit ETA being scrapped still required to enter UK ofcourse
