@Blair Waldorf Salad Because I flew economy Man-Dub but Business from Dub to IAD. EI gave me lounge access at Man thought. I managed a rare upgrade with Avios from Dub-IAD but couldnt be bothered forking out extra to upgrade the 40 min flight.

Paid cash for ORD-DUB-MAN to come back in Biz/Aerspace though as I’ll have more luggage on the return.

Niche card update: The Harrods Amex replaces the current free 3-minute cryotherapy treatment for cardholders, with a £25 credit per quarter at all Harrods restaurants. £100 per year in total, but credit does not roll over to the next quarter. Arguably much better value than before.

A couple of weeks ago, I noted that the Kimpton Manchester was cheaper in Hotels.com than in IHG (just few pounds less), so I filled the Best Price Guarantee form. Few hours later they confirmed the cheaper price, so they matched the rate and give me 5x bonus points for that stay (around 12k bonus points, added to another 7k for base, status and current promo points).
This week I had to book 3 more stays in Manchester and again noted that in every night (Kimpton and Crowne Plaza) the daily rate was cheaper at Hotels.con and Booking.com. So I proceeded to book non refundable rates and fill the BPG forms. All approved in few hours.
Conclusion, a good amount of extra points for little effort. Furthermore, I got prepaid rates in all the stays to use the last Amex offer I had (at least the Kimpton always charges me a couple of days after booking prepay rates).
Almost every single night in the calendar seems to be cheaper in these third party websites than in IHG for those two hotels, so it is very worth it to check before booking.

HIX Barrow is another one where I’ve frequently been able to find it cheaper elsewhere. Think I’ve had four approved over the last year there. First time I asked the hotel to match it and they declined so I submitted the BPG claim and it was approved within 20 mins

When will IHG allow you to use suite upgrade vouchers on points bookings? I seem to think this was promised when they introduced the new system.

I had my swimming lessons as a child in Barrow, I reckon it was about 60 years ago. Still remember the hot chocolate afterwards.
