Does KLM get the award for worst onboard coffee? LHR to AMS – bring your own!!!
Does anyone with a Blue Light card know, or would do me a favour and click through and check for me, if the discount applies to the IHG hotels at LHR or are they excluded from the normal IHG discount? My card expired end of Feb and forgot to renew, but will get on and do so if the discount does apply. I suspect it won’t as the Railcard rate doesn’t.
Checked In this morning at 7.56 for a BA 7.55 flight tomorrow moring from T3 to Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen airoport, and once again was allocated the last row window seat, with no option to change.
I cannot believe that the other 23 passengers all had status to check in early, and doubt that there were many (if any) transfers who had already checked through for a T3 flight.
More frustrating as my Exec club preference is an aisle seat.

The rail card rate does cover IHG hotels at LHR. I just booked one at the CP using it!
Rememebr the RC rate only covers stays that include a thur / fri / sat or sun night and can be capacity restricted,

Thanks, I don’t normally need to overnight at LHR so have never booked before – and didn’t know about the restrictions of the days of the week. Need to stay on a Wednesday night in May, so hopefully someone can confirm re the BLC code
@tootsci, I didn’t know about the blue light discount!! OH has kept renewing his since retirement so I’ll ask him to check later (it’s 5 am in Florida and he sleeps better than me!)
We have also used the railcard rate on eligible nights at LHR. Using it in FL as well this week, it’s a great perk.
@tootsci Just tried the 14th May at the CP and got:
Your preferred rate is not available as requested. Please modify your stay dates or select from the available rates.
To be fair, I get that almost all the time with the BLC code. Using the US T.C.B. site seems to be more lucrative.

Neither did I until very recently! Stumbled across it in the BLC app. It’s not a corporate ID code you enter like with RC, you have to click through from BLC and it takes you to the IHG website and the discount is already applied. I normally just use the RC rate but might be handy as a backup if you can use it when you can’t use the RC. Thanks for the offer to get hubs to check (boo for your insomnia though) but I just spotted that Strickers has kindly had a look for me
Can someone help me understand what is going on in row 9? Is there really just one seat either side of the aisle here or is the new seatmap broken?

Thanks @strickers, will probably stay at the Purple Palace instead then (HIX would have been only about £10 more than the PI if could have got the discount)

If you stated what flight, when etc people may be able to comment more appropriately.
Do you know what type of plane it is? If so, seat maps on aerolopa will have all the details@executiveclubber, which aircraft is this? Have you compared it on Aerolopa?
@freckles – beat me to it!It’s possibly one of BA CE cabins where one of the exit rows only has 2 seats so this is trying to show that the middle seat is blocked out. IIRC I’ve seen this configuration BA short haul or a Finnair substitute?
Looks like an A321ceo in CE. There are two seats in row 9 with a space / jump seat next to the exit door, with the ‘middle’ seat unused, so yes just one available. No extra legroom though, so don’t get suckered by that one – they aren’t real exit seats.
That’s right – you don’t get extra legroom, I recently moved from a similar row (26?) down the back on our AGP flight in May after discovering this! Aerolopa will confirm.
Thanks both, v useful. Don’t I’ve ever seen exit seats like these before, but good to know they add no legroom.
It’s a weird layout on that aircraft. At the first door the pair in row 9 have normal legroom, row 10 with three seats gets the extra space. At the second door it’s the pair which get the legroom.
As @NorthernLass says Aerolopa is spot on as usual. https://www.aerolopa.com/ba-21v

BA allocates a lot of seating in advance and then status comes into play with what is available to you – someone with a higher status will see different options. Looks like a very busy flight, a few blocked seats only

Yes. Tho 9C is quite nice as a solo traveller. 9D has the crew seat nearby so less desirable
Row 10 has lots of room (crew opposite 10F though)
Fed up with Barclaycard again. The first time I used it was to book a villa with a company called Villa Plus about 6 months ago. Charge wouldn’t go through and Barclaycard froze the card, and I had a heck or a job getting unfrozen (needed help from JDB). Just tried to pay the balance and it has rejected my card again twice. I’m too frightened to try it a third time as I do not want it frozen again and have to do an hours round trip to my nearest branch..
Maybe it is Villa Plus who are the problem and not Barclaycard. Off to dig out an ancient MasterCard card, as VP do not take Amex.
Rant over

seems date dependent. I tried a couple of random dates in April and nothing, moved forward to June and yes it was available. what date are you looking for and I can check. sorry, missed that it was a Wednesday in May, nothing for any of them.
Yes, blue light discount code does work for IHG Hotels at LHR. CP T4 always brings up a nice rate on Blue Light.

Thanks to Sam G on comments about car hire in Langkawi.
Had the car for 2 days and explored a fair bit. Enroite to KL tomorrow with Air Asia. Purchased extra luggage so I don’t experience the debacle I had with firefly. In case useful to someone: BA has at least 2 reward seats in J available LHR-HND on 23,27,28,29 April. Great time to go. Nothing obvious coming back with BA, haven’t looked properly at QR,CX etc yet. BA007 on all days, I think, which would be A350 so club suites.
In case I can’t get back on points, anyone got useful suggestions for cheap but enjoyable routes back in J for cash ? Stopovers in interesting places are fine, starting point could be anywhere in Japan, South Korea, China, anywhere in SE Asia as I have 60k AA points to burn that is crying out to be used at 2x30k for regional J with someone like CX or JL or MH. Thanks.

Thanks for checking for me @janed9388 and @bibby135 for additional feedback, appreciate it
