First post not until after 7am. Wow.
Hoping to be in Munich for the first time this weekend. Any suggestions for a rainy day there? And good value lunch eateries from the Amex Platinum dining? If you like museums there are some decent ones. Can’t recall the name off the top of my head but there’s one which has a treasury with some fabulous medieval crowns and stuff like that!
BA IT at its finest this morning. Trying to book for next April with the Barclays voucher, departure time is 1 hour 10 mins different on the app v website, it then questions whether the other FF number is correct (added from saved passenger details!) then at the payment page I’m getting the “technical error” message 😩
I wondered if anyone else has been on a double tier points BA holiday since the 1st of April 2025. Myself and OH had a 5 day trip to Italy returning on Saturday the 26th, booked last year before the executive club changes, on the old system we would have gained 320 tier points having flown from Edinburgh to Heathrow then Italy. At the moment we both have 2135 tier points allocated. Will this be the total or should we expect more points? To chase up or not!!

You are missing the bonus, should be within 15 days of return, no need to chase yet. I am also waiting for the double TPs.

Thanks I’ll wait and see.

Hoping to be in Munich for the first time this weekend. Any suggestions for a rainy day there? And good value lunch eateries from the Amex Platinum dining? When in Munich last year to see Adele we used the dinning credit at Alex, food was good and could have had more drinks to make a better dent in the credit..

Hoping to be in Munich for the first time this weekend. Any suggestions for a rainy day there? And good value lunch eateries from the Amex Platinum dining? We have had a few trips to Block house (in Berlin) nice steak and cheap as well.
Edit – they have them all over Germany, not suggesting you go to Berlin.
Thanks for the Munich suggestions @NorthernLass, @Fellowtraveller and @SteC – always good to get suggestions from the HfP hive.

I finished a pre Dec booking on 9th April, old Double TP posted 22nd April, so yes 14-15 days after return
Wineflyer offer of 3000 Avios on selected cases, till Monday 5th May using code MAYDAY3000.
May stack with Amex offer
These offers usually stack. I used a similar offer last week and the Amex avios posted the day after the payment cleared.
Just had a look at the Wine Flyer offer. Even stacked with the Amex offer, I don’t think its good value unless you are chasing a sign up or spend bonus.
Well, that’s a nice touch. On VS9 to JFK. There’s a little note next to my seat from the FSM wishing me a nice flight. Handwritten.
That is nice – do you have status?
I was also impressed with the service on our MAN-MCO flight last month. Crew discovered while I was away from my seat that my tray table wouldn’t fully fold out and were mortified – though I wasn’t bothered as half of it was still usable. They insisted that they would make sure I would get some compensatory points and indeed 6k points were deposited in my account a couple of weeks later.
Quick q – can someone with a free BA Amex (not BAPP) let me know if a) they see a Wine Flyer bonus Avios offer or not and b) whether its the same as the 3000 Avios for £149 one on BAPP? Thanks.
Standards and timescales are slipping then. I got 10k points for the useless little fold down phone/drink shelf and I didn’t even notice it. Crew told me as soon as I boarded that it was broken. Compo was in my account 2 days after the flight.
@Panda Mick yes that’s a nice touch, I’ve had it a couple of time. Same as the handwritten notes that some hotels leave in the room before you arrive.Quick q – can someone with a free BA Amex (not BAPP) let me know if a) they see a Wine Flyer bonus Avios offer or not and b) whether its the same as the 3000 Avios for £149 one on BAPP? 2,000 Avios on eligible spend of £80+ online at The Wine Flyer by 30/6/2025
It’s been there for a week.
2,000 Avios on eligible spend of £80+ online at The Wine Flyer by 30/6/2025
Thanks.
I wasn’t bothering with it but the MAYDAY promo – plus the new discounts for elite BAC members – makes it interesting.
A Gold can get £179 of wine plus 6,000 Avios for £152.
@Rob for the free BA, it works out 5917 avios (inc card spend and case avios) for £153 for the Primitivo case. Checked the prices on all the individual bottles and it’s roughly the same across the market of online suppliers. So not terrible, just above my usual £7-8 quid supermarket price point.
I might treat myself. Really missing Sicily’s 3 euro Nero D’avola 🙁
@Rob – there are extra discounts on selected bottles if you mix and match 6/12 etc. I managed over £200 worth of wine for £151 plus 6k avios last week. Gold 15% discount makes up for the Blue Light one no longer being a thing! They have some nice Malbecs.
Just stocked up on 12 bottles of Lagunilla Rioja Reserva 2018 for €7 a bottle in Santander. There were better options but these were boxed making for easy transport. Not sure what Mrs S would say if I bought a case from BA also to take advantage of the stacked offers?
@NorthernLass the Mayday promo is only valid on specific cases, not mix and match
@strickers – getting the Xmas stocks in early? Nice deal on the Lagunilla. Wine Flyer didn’t seem to have much of a Spanish offering at all this time.
@davefl, ah ok. I had a “we’re missing you” email offering an extra 2000 avios last week which worked with any wine and also stacked with the Amex offer.
