Good Morning from a very calm & pleasantly warm Orlando.
Doubt I’ll be saying this in 24 hours time.
Of course I’ve got a stinking cold & my sinuses feel ready to explode.
The take on Milton from across the pond, batten down the hatches, and stay safe!
Seem BA On Business Points expiry has been extended from December 2024 to June 2025.
Hopefully the email I received to say this was itself not an error!
Has anyone else received such email to confirm points are further extended into 2025?Those who could not get referral link via Amex should check again. It seems to be working again for referrals which wasn’t working previously for many months!
Either a slow day on news front but LBC had many a mention of Milton, so not great news for that TPA departure. GL.
I need some HfP help! I flew to JFK on a BA Flight which would take me to Silver on the 30th September. My flights are yet to credit and I’ve got a flight to Sydney with my family in 8 days time.
The JFK flight hasn’t credited, nor has the return, and I’d like to select seats free of charge before Bronze members can book.
Is there anything I can do expedite my silver status!? I’ve spoken to two agents and they’ve basically said “you’ll have to wait two weeks before we can help you”.
If I paid for seats on Avios or cash, could I claim the money /avios back off BA? Or should I just wait and see what BA assign us? (Kids are 12 and 13 if that makes a difference)
@PaulW don’t you have Bronze status already? The JFK return flights will only add 280TP so that suggests you already have at least 320TP if the JFK flights will get you to Silver. That means you should be able to select seats for free at t-7 days.
In terms of paying for seats and reclaiming the cosr once silver unfortunately you arw out of luck. Ba won’t play ball on that.
ADVICE PLEASE 🙂
Arrive Bahrain at 00:05 on BA0125I need to get to Muscat.
There’s a Gulf Air flight at 01:45I am guessing that’s not enough time, as I will need to collect bags, and check back through?
Thanks
It might be enough but if it’s not you lose your flight.
Personally that unprotected connection would need to be atleast 4 hours for me to be happy.
Last time I went through immigration at Bahrain at a similar time it took an hour itself but that was a few years back.
@PaulW no nothing you can do and no they won’t refund seat fees. Since you don’t have Bronze already was the JFK trip a BA holiday? You might be waiting even longer for the double TPHello! Has anyone’s Finnair status match come through yet? I was in two minds and so I didn’t apply until right up against the deadline and so I suspect I am bottom of the pile. However, I have received neither an acknowledgement nor a rejection/acceptance. Apologies if this has already been covered on here I’ve been off grid for a few days.
WineFlyer/Amex email in, with wine offering “crowd-pleasing sophistication”. Eh?
Oh well, I understand 4,000 avios!
(But still haven’t swilled all of the last lot.)
@ross I frequent Bahrain twice a year so know the airport well.
That should be fine, Bahrain airport is probably the fastest airport you will ever visit. The only thing that can sometimes take time is the luggage carousel lottery but they are usually out quite quick. Assuming all goes as it usually does you should be able to get to immigration, collect bags, check in and be through security in around 30 mins. Locals brag about how quick their airport is and I have never actually had to queue for security or immigration, its usually straight through.
The BA flight does land at the furthest gate from immigration though, so while the airport isnt huge you may want to factor that in.

.
How did you pay for the JFK flights?
@tiberius it’s a 1 hour 40 connection which leaves about 40 mins to get off the plane, through immigration, grab your bag and to the departures area and find your check in desk.
Even if getting through in 30 mins is the norm that leaves 10 mins buffer. No luggage I’d say it’s probably fine. With luggage wow that’s some squeaky bum time …
Then factor in speedbird says of the last 60 flights 56 were delayed on average 56 mins with 4 early by avr 4 mins and 2 on time.
None of this sounds absolutely fine.

With bags, no way would I do that. Your cutoff is when bag drop closes rather than departure time, if it’s -1h you basically have 40 mins. Everything – arrival on time, quick immigration, quick delivery of bags and no other hassle or hold-ups – would need to go well to make that.

Same here.
Did have a swift look, but then in ten seconds found an 18 quid WF bottle online for 12 at Waitrose…WineFlyer/Amex email in, with wine offering “crowd-pleasing sophistication”. Eh?

I still have a few bottles of Laurent Perrier La Cuvée Champagne to Quaff, from the last promotion, As someone once said, “it won’t drink itself” yes you have to price check.

@PaulW doesn’t say he isn’t Bronze already – he just wants to get ahead of the other Bronzes which if his Silver status comes through he can do today instead of with the Bronzes tomorrow.Speaking of Bronze, yesterday, I was checking the family in for our GLA-LHR-SIN itinerary with BA when I noticed that my wife was BA Bronze when looking at her boarding pass.
She only had 230 tier points her last membership year, which ended 8 Jun, but had been Bronze the past couple of years, I think. She’s now extended through 31 July 2025.
What’s happened here? Complimentary extension? If so, on what basis is this offered?
No communications from BA at any point and I had assumed her status had lapsed.
BTW Nectar Count up to Christmas has launched.
@RK228, does she have a BAPP? I’ve noticed OH getting TPs via his, even though he didn’t sign up for them when it started.

Happened to my OH also, who had 250 points or so. Got an email to say bronze has been extended, no explanation either.
@roger What does your online OnBusiness account say. Rob said earlier that statement emails might be an error. I haven’t been able to check my account as the authentication app is on my old phone (same number, but transferring, didn’t work, so everyone beware) and I’m not at home for another few days.
I used AwardWallet yesterday to update the balance on my Qatar Airways account. The update failed. That happens a lot with Award Wallet because of ever tightening account security.
Today I got the dreaded aircraft change alert for my upcoming QR booking. When I tried accessing my QR account I found my account has been locked.
After an hour on the phone to QR I still don’t have access. One person told me my account isn’t just locked but “deactivated”. Another told me I will have to wait 24 hours for “someone” to contact me. A third clearly had no idea who was responsible for account security. A fourth couldn’t understand what I meant by “logging into my account”.
Finally a fifth person told me that my account has been “suspended” and I will have to wait 48 hours pending investigation.
All I’ve ever done with my QR account is transfer in Avios from BA and make award bookings.
Now my account is “suspended”. I can’t access my flight bookings to deal with the aircraft change.
I’ve seen enough horror stories of people having accounts suspended and losing all their FF miles to know that I will never again use Award Wallet or any similar tool to access any of my hotel or airline accounts.
