A friend has just bought a holiday home in the US and intends to spend about 4 months there each year. What is the likelihood he and his wife will qualify for a US points credit card? Are they likely to have better luck with certain cards? Is there anything they should do before applying to maximise there chances
It’s practically impossible for them to get a social security number as practically tourists (who happen to own property there).

Plus having a social security number and similar resident detail may compromise someone’s tax position.
You won’t be able to get a credit card but you will be able to open a bank account including a debit card. We have a condo in Florida and use Bank of America. We either use that for spending or use Curve Metal linked to an Avios Barclaycard. Alternatively use a fx fee free credit card like Halifax Clarity. If you have any income from it, you’ll need to get an ITIN (tax id) from the IRS. Happy to help, if I can.
