Forums Payment cards Other payment cards Curve SIPP payment

Recently topped up my SIPP at HL using Curve + MBNA Horizon card. The latest statement shows this as a cash transaction and has charged interest. Is this a new thing? We’ve topped up several times in the past using Curve with various cards and none have previously been treated as cash.

Surely not new. MBNA has announced that they will do so sometime last year. They also sent out reminders when such payments were made that would incur charges after the deadline (October?).

@np115 – re cash advance treatment, as with your SIPP, past performance is no guide to the future and the market turmoil has barely started.

Thanks I missed that and must have not read their communications fully. Do you know if MBNA will treat HMRC as cash and also if other cards are affected eg Virgin, Barclaycard etc.

I don’t see why HMRC would be treated as cash

Virgin has changed their T&C last year, just waiting till the day the computer system catches up.
