Forums Payment cards American Express Does more 241 voucher availability open up if you try to fly from a regional?

    I’m beginning to think about places to go with my companion voucher (Asia probably) and I was wondering if it’s possible for a particular CW seat to be claimed if I was flying from LHR but for availability to open up if I was flying from Scotland. Does it increase my chances in 355-day late-night booking race?

    Not at T-355, generally, but the later-released “I”/extra availability is often better from the regions. There has been extensive discussion of this on here and I think Rob did an article about it a few months ago.

    It won’t help you at 355 days out.

    But you won’t need it, because 3-6 months out you can book pretty much anything, any day, as long as it is from a regional departure point.

    Reason it doesn’t work at 355 days is that availability is driven by cheap I-class cash tickets and those are not bookable when the schedule opens up.

    Do we know if the regional availability versus London is IT related or deliberate?

    Oddly, no return avios seats are being released from GCM at the moment, but there ARE “extra” CW seats at T-355, with the 241, because I bagged some this week. Don’t know if this is a sign of things to come or just BA IT glitchery.

    @Doug
    , it’s to do with regional departures being cheaper, apparently, as there is less demand for them than direct flights. Obviously this works well for those of us who actually need a regional departure!

    What’s the best way to find 241 flight availability from the regions? TIA

    You need to do searches starting from the regional airport on ba.com for your chosen dates, SeatSpy will only show the standard availability on each individual leg, and not the combined journey or “extra” seats.
