Finnair and Flex Fare experiences?

With our Japan travel on the ropes (AMEX 241 booking), we are looking at alternatives. We would like a fare that can be easily cancelled or amended if anything should arise, but we aren’t seeing lots of availability for Avios reward flights to destinations we want to travel to (mostly Asian destinations).

We have noticed that Finnair, however, have some competitive prices and their Flex fares state that they are a “Flexible choice with cancellation and rebooking possibilities and checked baggage”.

With this in mind, I wanted to see if anyone had any experience with Finnair’s flexible fares and if they were indeed easy to cancel and amend?

Are there any caveats or can we book with the confidence that these truly are flexible fares?
