In case anyone is making a Finnair booking with Avios, beware if you may need to cancel and rebook using the original Avios. I just checked and I am still waiting for the refund for tickets I cancelled on 5th April! Luckily I have enough for my current needs so no big deal but it may cause problems for others
You could chase via their call centre to have the avios returned straight away if needed.
I cancelled a flight late last year..still waiting for a refund of the taxes. They email periodically to say they are still working through their backlog. Very odd.
Sadly, I too booked a Finnair flight with Avios as I wanted to try their business A350 offering. After booking I decided to extend my trip. Unfortunately I cannot do that on their app. nor using their chatbot. As for trying to speak to someone on two different occasions I hung up on the phone after waiting more than 90 minutes each time I gave up and eventually cancelled my flights which you can do with their chatbot!
Now my avios and taxes are in limbo, who knows how long it will take to get them back, if ever! Potential Finnair customers beware!
