Advance of travelling I found very few reviews of hotels in Manila so perhaps worth sharing my experiences at the Grand Hyatt which has been open 7 years. The tallest building in the city it offers upmarket accommodations and suites on the south side of the city (near to the airport). Located in the global city area it is between affluence and poverty but I always feel safe and the local Filipino people are so friendly sharing greetings as I am out running in the early mornings. The facilities are second to none with a 27m large outdoor pool that is often empty but has two dedicated swim lanes, a children’s pool and two hot tubs. Inside the huge locker rooms for the large gym and pool are a very big sauna, steam and hot tubs facilities with endless supplies of towels. The breakfast in the Great kitchen is extensive. The club lounge is on floor 57 with great panoramic views and 2 chefs preparing evening canapés and breakfast. As soon as my dietary requirements were stated this was attended to every evening. Much appreciated. I was even welcomed by the GM one evening as he was visiting the lounge. Well recommended for sunset views over Manila Bay as well!
