Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club Iberia Business Class – Overweight (23 to 32kg) Baggage Fee on BA booking?

  • 1 post

I’m flying London Heathrow (LHR) – Madrid (MAD) – Buenos Aires (EZE) on Iberia Business Class, booked through British Airways using a BA Amex 2-4-1 voucher.

I checked Iberia’s official baggage policy page:
    https://www.iberia.com/gb/luggage/allowance-in-hold/#!/baggages-search#Casosexcepcionales

    The page states:

    “Price for excess baggage
This is a fixed rate payable whenever a bag exceeds 23kg but is less than the maximum 32kg permitted. The price only varies according to the destination.”

However, the table immediately below this statement lists the following:

Flights to/from: Latin America, Asia, and South Africa
    Business Plus/Class: Free excess baggage

Only after the table does the page mention Iberia Plus status, stating that status holders across all classes receive additional baggage benefits. But this is separate from the table, making it look like an extra perk rather than a requirement for the free excess baggage in Business Class.

Given this wording, my understanding is that Business Class passengers on long-haul flights to Latin America should not be charged an overweight fee for bags up to 32kg, even without Iberia Plus status.

I’d appreciate any insights from those who have flown Iberia Business Class long-haul and checked in a bag over 23kg:

Were you charged an overweight baggage fee?
If so, was your ticket booked directly with Iberia, or through BA (like mine)?

    Thanks!
