Do the HfP community have any thoughts on Briggs & Riley suitcases? They look a little bland but the lifetime guarantee gives the impression they have confidence in their product.
Check what is covered in lifetime guarantee – Tripp luggage used to have that too, but when the corners opened up, and the handle snapped it was all classed as wear and tear.
Yep I’ve had a ‘lifetime guarantee’ on a suitcase before and got exactly the same response so I consider them worthless.
Last large case I bought was a Samsonite chosen partially because it’s a garish teal colour I can spot amongst the sea of black on a luggage carousel. That said on the way back from JFK last month somebody did have the exact same case.
And looking at the prices … holy !@(&(*W that’s expensive.
I have a lot of Briggs & Riley pieces.
Briggs & Riley have never let me down on the guarantee. Several repairs and one replace over many, many years.
I always use K2 luggage repairers in Maidenhead. Walking distance from the station or you can courier your luggage to them (don’t quetsch about the courier fees, within reason they’re worth it). K2 are so good I wouldn’t go anywhere else for any kind of luggage, briefcase or handbag repair. As and when my Macpac backpacks eventually need work I’ll probably ask K2 first if they can repair those aa well. K2 will repair or replace according to the state of it and the luggage brand’s policies, all done inhouse and they take care of all the paperwork with the manufacturer and very often with the airline as well.
However I have a feeling the Baseline range may have kept the lifetime guarantee, but not other lines they do. Read the small print carefully. Baseline is very sturdy and worth the money particularly if you can get a deal when sourcing them (rare, but do-able).
