Curious if anyone has experience using the Melia offer on the platinum card, having read the T&C’s it states that bookings made via the app do not qualify for the offer. When booking via the app you get an automatic 10% discount which in my case would be more than £75. Curious if anyone has booked by the app and received the statement credit.
Booking on the app worked for me. It was an advance purchase rate but was charged at the hotel. I did have a problem with the extras (to trigger £300) being charged by another office so it took a manual escalation to get the credit, but I managed.
Required escalation via chat for a prepay rate in an eligible hotel, booked online. Transaction tracked as “Melia <<eligible hotel>> Palma de Mallorca” so initially refused on basis of different address but I got there in the end.
Took 10 days to resolve but got the £75 back.
My experience FWIW
1. Desktop rate much worse than mobile app rate however app purchases don’t qualify per T&Cs
2. Amex slap on ridiculous FX fee
.. ie the £75 discount was actually not that great all things considered plus I am now locked in with a prepay rate.
Recently booked a stay via app for the Melia White House, prepay rate, charged by hotel prior to check in. Credit tracked automatically without a need to contact Amex, on the other hand, Hilton offer hasn’t credited for a stay at the Gantry. Waiting for manual credit.
Not been having a good time with hotel offers lately. Hilton hasn’t worked. IHG has eventually tracked and paid out. Melia was booked last week and no sign of credit yet. Both transaction show Palma though despite not being Palma. Judging by someone’s post above, this could be a problem. It was the hotel in Kensington and White House.
