-
I am considering booking a Mr & Mrs Smith hotel in Reykjavik. Little confused how this works as this chain appear part of the IHG group but not a full member? I believe a points booking is an option, but I can not redeem a free night voucher. Is this correct? Do the hotels tend to recognise status (I am Spire)? Mixed reports on IHG status vs Ambassador status recognition. Hotel looks perfect (location etc) so trying to decide on the best options to book. Thanks!

Email them ask what benefits they give. Never seen free bunny available
MR and Mrs Smith (MAMS) properties aren’t part of IHG at all but they have a “marketing” partnership.
Redemptions are basically a fixed cash value per point vs the rate for the night and yes it’s correct that the creation credit card vouchers can’t be used.
My understanding is your spire means nothing (the earning bonus is applicable if you paid cash) all IHG bookings get a “smith extra” blacksmith welcome gift
Ambassadors get a one cat upgrade (subject to availability) and a goldsmith ilo blacksmith welcome gift
Thanks for your responses. Accommodation booked (4 nights, all with points). Off to Iceland (somewhere new for me to travel to). We do get 2 x free drinks as a welcome gift…

This is what I thought but another poster on here somewhere suggested otherwise. I spent some time playing and although the search is very erratic, it is possible to find Mr & Mrs Smith creation nights – I’ve booked 3 nights in Croatia in the summer that would be €400/night cash
And you can do better – I found Rocco Forte suites in Puglia & Sicily that were €3k cash, the Blue Lagoon Retreat in Iceland which is always £1k plus, £1.5k suites in Sorrento. Plus Heckfield Place, Cliveden, Chewton Glen etc. They are all hard to find but they are there.
Shame that game is over!
I have also managed to use up my last two Creation card/IHG free night awards by booking a Mr & Mrs Smith hotel next year. Fairly patchy availability and a pain booking nights individually, but worthwhile persevering and seeking them out!

It really is a pain. But at least I feel I’m getting some decent value from them, even if it isn’t the most I could. The Blue Lagoon would be the thing but it doesn’t really work for me this year.
I noticed this recently when looking at where to use a soon to expire free night voucher. Is this a recent change?
Anyone actually stayed at a Mr & Mrs using a free night voucher?
What are the best suggestions for using in the UK?
Thanks
Thanks for the information above. I have now booked one of the nights using the free night voucher (IHG card) at a Mr & Mrs hotel (and rebooked the remaining nights with points). I was not aware that this was possible so thanks for the info!
Just be careful if you cancel a Free Night booking with them. They don’t refund the voucher. They offered me 40k points and I declined as said it wasn’t enough value compared to the voucher, settled for 70k.
I have been able to use my Creation IHG vouchers for Mr & Mrs Smith. Got it to allow me to book a incredibly high points per night rate.
I attempted to do this, but the booking failed at the final stage (even though there appeared to be availability). Same happened to the agent when I called to try to get it sorted. Any tips here?!
Edit: just worked now! I think previously a room category 1 or 2 up from the lowest appeared available, but actually wasn’t.

PS. Try Tuddenham Mill. Stayed there in the summer (Spire IHG, no status recognition). The inclusive breakfast was table service and fantastic though.
Has anyone had experience or heard of Mr and Mrs Smith giving status recognition to Spire or Ambassador members? I am currently due to stay in Mr and Mrs Smith in Feb and an IC in March.
Just trying to figure out if AMB is worth taking in Feb before my trip or I should save a month and use get in March.
Any advice would be helpful!
