Forums › Payment cards › American Express › MR transfers from Amex UK cards to ICC no longer possible?
-
I just spoke to someone from the Amex UK callcenter in Brighton, and he told me it is not possible to transfer MR points from Amex UK to ICC cards. He checked with his manager to confirm. I also spoke to the ICC callcenter beforehand and they told me they couldn’t do anything at their end. Does anyone know if there has been a change in policy?
I reckon about 20-30% of agents and supervisors know how to do this. Just HUACA until you get to someone who knows.
Thanks. Should I be calling the ICC team? Since previous commentators indicated that was the way to go.
I’ve done it both via UK and ICC teams, but I think it was the ICC team last time.
Given the scheme is no longer open to new applicants, it’s possible they have withdrawn the feature to transfer.
Oh, I missed that article!
@Rob can we get a definite answer from Amex on this?Hmmm. Hopefully not!
I don’t see why they would stop this, given that it is a global feature. Let’s see.
Update today: I called the ICC number and was again told they couldn’t transfer the points. After explaining that the UK branch had also refused, the agent went away and then came back to say that they could actually do the transfer! However he said that they only accepted transfers to the same tier, so it wouldn’t be possible to transfer from my UK Gold card to my ICC Green card.
He couldn’t tell me what an equivalent tier was on the UK side, only that my Gold card wouldn’t work. Then I asked to be transferred back to the UK office, and the lady who picked up knew nothing about the tier restriction. But despite previous refusals, she said she could put in a request for transfer! So they have made the request and we will see what happens.
So basically a complete mess of a process.
Another data point
I spoke to UK Card services Wednesday 1st March. The agent told me it’s not possible, despite my asking them to check with a supervisor etc. I said to them the reason I doubt it’s not possible is because of this forum & website. Anyway, no dice.
Called ICC Card Services, the delightful Antonio relatively quickly confirmed it was possible, but had to do some digging around, and asked that he call me back. He duly did at the time I’d requested, and he then transferred me to a colleague, who assisted. Plat UK MR transferred to Green Euro ICC MR account with no issues. Requested Wednesday 1st PM, landed Monday 6th AM.
As another data point, I transferred MR to Krisflyer late last week, and they landed in less than 24 hrs. Did the same on Monday this week and they’ve only just landed. Maybe MR to Krisflyer only processes Thursday Night/Friday Morning SIN Time… or something like that. Very small sample size obviously
