Opening Barclays Premier Using Barclays App a good idea?

Hello. Just wondered if anyone has been successful in opening the a Barclays premier account using the Barclays app. I am a new customer. I tried last night and today – did the painful video/ ID check 😫 then can enter income, choose paperless statements but then can’t get further after the final submission page. Says ‘can’t process’

Yeah, back when a flurry of people here opened Barclays accounts because of a generous offer, this kind of problem was commonplace. I think (based only what I have seen as a customer, not any inside knowledge) that their app is stitching together numerous different systems, and if anything goes wrong then they’re left in an inconsistent state which takes skilled human intervention to recover.

Key to sorting it out is to call the Premier helpline, not the more general one the app might point you towards (and definitely not going into a branch). The staff on the Premier line are much more competent and generally able to figure out what went wrong. The number I used at the time was 0800 085 1115, though that was a couple of years ago so things may have changed.
