Dear all, this one is a bit unusual as we have never had such experiences. We are still currently in Thailand and decided to go and use the £100 abroad dining credits. Finished our meal and on to payment — only to be told Player B Amex Plat card did not go through even after using pin and multiple attempts.
My Amex Plat Card went through just fine. So obviously I picked up the rest of the bill and was not able to use Player B’s £100 credit.
A bit miffed but thought this can be just a one-off. Chatted to Amex and was told things are all good even after run some trail charge test. Decided to raise a formal complaint though. Today, trying to use the card several times in various places but none went through.
Just now, went to HN online to use the £50, using card no. etc., and it went through fine. Just like early last month when utilised the Hyatt and Trips.com offers, all was fine.
We have never experienced this before and not sure how to approach as we will still be in Thailand for the next month or even longer and would like to use the card but it is just not possible. We don’t think asking Amex to send a new card would be ideal as we won’t be able to use that new card anyway. I am thinking since we are not able to use the card, we might just cancel the card.
Any advices are much appreciated.
