Qatar Airways booking?

Hi, apologies if this should be obvious, but I’m new to Avios and finding it all quite confusing. I booked a forthcoming flight with Qatar from the UK to Jakarta, through a third party agent. My Qatar and BA accounts are linked. Do I have to wait, please, until after the flight for the Avios to show up in my Qatar Aiways account?

Also, is there any advantage to linking a credit card (visa or Mastercard) to the QA account? I have my AmEx one linked to the BA account.

No Avios will appear until after the flight(s)

You must add your BAEC or Qatar club membership details to the booking before the flight or you will receive no Avios, tier points or other membership benefits — do this under Qatar “manage my booking”
