Forums Hotel loyalty schemes Marriott Bonvoy QHotels leaving Delta?

  • 195 posts

I have a points booking in August at Delta Nottingham Belfry Hotel & Spa.
This afternoon an e-mail has arrived from QHotels saying:-

We are delighted to announce that the Delta by Marriott Nottingham Belfry will return to its original name Nottingham Belfry Hotel & Spa from 1 July. The hotel will therefore no longer be part of the Delta by Marriott brand.

We see from our records that you have an upcoming stay with us. We can’t wait to welcome you and if we can be of any assistance in advance of your arrival, please phone us.

No mention of it being a points booking. It appears that they are hoping we shall just turn up and accept that we suddenly have to pay cash?

Or will Bonvoy contact me in the next day or two?

Given that quite a number of Deltas are run by QHotels {see https://www.headforpoints.com/2022/08/22/uk-marriott-hotels-rebranding-as-delta/), anyone had a similar e-mail, either in respect of the same hotel, or another Delta?

Probably the same as when their DoubleTree by Hilton were de flagged and all points bookings were cancelled.

It is possible they are working through bookings via Marriott platforms on a period basis, and not got to you yet.

Only options are to contact the hotel and find out, or contact Marriott and see what options they give you.

Thanks for the thought. I have made a backup points booking at the nearby DoubleTree and for the moment we can afford to wait and see.

However, I found out last night that Marriott are still accepting both cash and points bookings for the hotel, which does seem as the people are not talking to one another…

I wouldn’t necessarily trust that Marriott selling rooms still would mean you will be ok.

The hotel is still part of the Marriott ecosystem until the 1st August, at this point I suspect it will be removed from Marriott and all the bookings on points would likely be cancelled.

Cash bookings will be advised they won’t receive Marriott benefits.

I, too, got an email from the hotel. I’m a Platinum Elite member and was concerned I wouldn’t get breakfast, late check out, etc. for my stay tomorrow, but after speaking to both Marriott and the hotel they said they would be able to ‘honour that up until the 7th July’, so whilst it looks like I’m covered as my stay is imminent, you may have challenges. Best to give Bonvoy a call if you’re unsure, I got an answer in less than 10 mins.

That could explain it. The e-mail says “We are delighted to announce that the Delta by Marriott Nottingham Belfry will return to its original name Nottingham Belfry Hotel & Spa from 1 July. The hotel will therefore no longer be part of the Delta by Marriott brand“, which could be understood as just the name changed on 1 July, while it will only leave Bonvoy on 1 Aug, though this is not specifically stated.

Our booked stay is in August, so I would guess that at some stage the booking will be canx.
Still weird that yesterday Marriott were still accepting points bookings for August, given that they told Doos “they would be able to ‘honour that up until the 7th July’.
