Made a late booking to visit San Sebastian for a break next month. Any hotel/apartment recommendations for a couple ?Budget maybe £250-300/night
A couple of years ago we stayed at Zenit Convento, a converted convent, and really liked it. The room was a little small but the reception area is stunning. They have an underground car park and it’s well located.
I’ve stayed in the Hotel Maria Christina – loved it but it can be insanely expensive. In May we stayed in the Hotel Atari, above the well know bar of the same name and next to the Church. Great value, great spot (though I don’t think taxis are able to get into that part of the old town in case walking with a suitcase is an issue) and a small but high quality breakfast.
Thanks! The Zenith looks nice, but is sold out 🙁 Hotel Maria looks lovely, but is £2k/night!
How nice is Hotel Atari? It’s £350/night during our stay, which is stretching the budget
Ended up with a cancellable booking at The Social Hub. Looks ok and has pool for £200/night. Will try to find more central and a bit more upscale if possible, though – other suggestions are welcome:)
We out of the centre, Zinema7 was great but a decent walk into town.
Thanks. @strickers The Social Hub is way out of the centre?
Zinema7 looks decent and in budget – thanks 🙂 The One Shot hotel also looks decent and a similar price – is that a bit more central?
+1 for the Hotel Atari. Small but practical rooms. Can’t beat the location right in the middle of Old town and within the vicinity of some of the infamous Pintxos bars.
£350 for Hotel Atari is punchy, but its an expensive town. We had a great room on the top floor, enjoyed the limited but high quality breakfast and loved being minutes from all the key bars you want to visit. That price makes me pause though
We just got back a few weeks ago from San Sebastián. Stayed at the Hotel de Londres y de Inglaterra. Expensive for what it is – at about £300pn – but really well located for the beach and old town. Room was decent but no coffee machine which we would have expected for the price. Breakfast was very good (especially the mini Basque cheesecakes).
Thanks again for all the suggestions. Realised we’d booked for about the most expensive weekend of July! We’ll change to head out at a somewhat cheaper time, where these suggestions should all be an option (and Hotel Maria won’t be massively over budget)

You can easily get within 100m of Atari via taxi.
We stayed in an AirBnB at Plaza Sarriegi, but it’s not available for the end of July. It was ideally placed – right in the Old Town amongst the pintxos bars, but was out of the way enough it was quiet at night.
