Forums Frequent flyer programs Other frequent flyer schemes Ticket for a baby on Qatar?

I was hoping for some advice.

My wife and I are expecting our first child next month. We also have 2 business class flights booked to MEL in October and with all being well we are hoping to travel with said due baby. Just a couple of questions:

    1) Do we simply ring up Qatar to add the child to the booking as and when he arrives and has a passport?

    2) Is there a charge for a baby?

    3) Should we actually go? 0.o

    First of all congratulations!
Welcome to the club of not travelling light for a while!

We have two 2yrs and an 8m old, so we’re in a world of doubling up on everything, car seats, buggies, nappies etc etc!
Between them we’ve carted them off to Australia, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, South Africa as well as a host of European countries, so answering in reverse, absolutely you must go!

Just ring QR and add a lap infant, there will be a small charge, normally taxes and fees only to pay for them. You’ll see a different side of flying biz with an infant. The staff in business are normally amazing with babies. Helping getting the toilet ready for changing and will gladly hold a baby when you need an extra pair of hands.

Enjoy the trip and good luck.

Definitely go. 3 months is a perfect age, 3 until 9 months it’s actually the best, when they start crawling at speed they want to be set free, short haul far easier at those ages! So enjoy flying when they don’t want to jump out of you arms!

Feed on take off and descent, swallowing helps regulate their ears so you should have a peaceful experience.

Thanks both and good to know!

Our QR flights were booked using Avios. So hopefully it is just a nominal fee of taxes etc. We have bagged the bassinet seats as well… Albeit one of the legs in QSuite, we decided to forego the bassinet seats and try out the mid-doubles!

Nb. Qatar didn’t previously allow lap infants in Business class bookings using Avios. Not sure if this has changed.

The only way round this (that I’m aware of), is to book via BA.com (rather than booking via Qatar Website). BA let you add an infant to a Qatar Business class reward flight booking with no problem.
