Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club Transferring Avios from BA to Aer Lingus – any recent success?

  • 68 posts

    Morning,

I’ve been trying to transfer my Avios from British Airways to Aer Lingus via the “Combine My Avios” feature, but keep running into frustrating issues. I’ve gotten errors like:

“Combine my Avios is not available at the moment. Please try again later.”

I already made sure to disable “Prevent cross-site tracking” in Safari, which they suggest might help but no luck.

Tried a workaround by moving Avios from BA to Iberia first, but also having an error doing this.

Booking the exact same flight via Aer Lingus costs around £40 in fees, whereas BA wants £200+ for the same route / plane using Avios.

    Just wondering:
Has anyone managed to do this transfer recently (BA → Aer Lingus), and if so, how?

Any workarounds or tips would be really appreciated!

    Thanks in advance

Yes, This worked today for me today. I used this really good thread to do it.

I did it on my phone using this link

https://www.britishairways.com/travel/btt/execclub/_gf/en_gb is the link, I just successfully moved my balance from Aer Lingus to BA. Thanks to u/scrumptydumpty I entered my membership number in the Avios Partners login and got through (I was incorrectly trying my email).

you definitely need to do this each time you log in ” “Prevent cross-site tracking” in security settings.
also use number and not email address to log in
and then make sure no special characters in password:

Created and account for this – In case anybody from BA/avios dev team reads this – my issue was a special character in my Aer Lingus password that you are probably decoding incorrectly server side.

For others – if you are geting a password error, try changing your Aer Lingus password to remove special characters.

I was also able to transfer from vueling to ba and then to aer lingus using same process..

Thanks so much – this was immensely helpful and I really appreciate the detailed post and Reddit link!

The password thing was the key.
I did have special characters in my Aer Lingus account password, removing them finally let me log in and complete the transfer.

It’s wild that their backend can’t handle something so basic.

Even stranger: when you go to reset your password, it says it requires a special character.. But thats what breaks the system and it’s not required.

    Thanks again
